Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – December 24, 2013

Ravens:
Okay, the miracle endings went the other way this time. After giving up 3 TDs in the final 2 minutes, that game went down as the worst home loss in franchise history. Flacco was NOT himself, and nothing else worked or went our way. The Ravens were out of sync most all of the game, and made the patriots look better than they are. What hurts the most is that they Ravens were in control of their destiny. Now they are not. In a 3 team train wreck for the last playoff spot, the Ravens have the edge over Miami and San Diego individually, but, in a 3 car pile-up, we come up short. Only answer is to win, and hope. There are possibilities to make the show, if we lose, but that will re-introduce the steelers into the picture, and we can’t have that!

Orioles:
Orioles claimed a failing pitcher off waivers.

Alouettes
Nothing to report.

Blast:
Blast won back-to-back games over Pennsylvania by a combined 50-2 score, as the Blast recorded their 2nd shutout of the season in 3 games. Those two meet again on New Years Eve.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing to report.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
The Caps maintained 2nd place, but fell to 13 points behind pittsburgh, and 6th in the conference.

Wizards (See website for more details):
The Wizards (12-13) have now won 3 in a row, but still sit in 4th place, moving up to 6th in the conference.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL Week 16:
    • Buffalo (+2.5) over Miami. Bills already beat Miami in Miami, why not again in Buffalo? Bills shutout Miami, but Ravens return hope to South Florida.
    • Carolina over Saints (+3.5). Carolina is 6-4 as the Favorite, and the Saints are 1-2 as the underdog. Carolina clinches Playoff spot.
    • Bengals over Minnesota (+7.5), but take the points. Vikes could win this outright if the Bungles return. Cincinnati clinches division title.
    • Denver over Houston (+10.5). Houston is just trying to finish the season. Denver wins big, holds on to top seed.
    • Jags (+5.5) over Tennessee. Jax already beat Tennessee in Tennessee earlier this season. Tennessee holds on for win, but Jacksonville covers.
    • Chiefs over Colts (+6.5). Chiefs tend to win big; Colts lose big. Chiefs can’t win the division, and have nothing to play for.
    • Browns (+2.5) over Jets. Jets are worse than their record. Jets sucks, but still better than Browns.
    • Rams over Tampa (+5.5). Rams at home. I learned my lesson last week. Rams win by 10 at home.
    • Dallas over Washington (+3.5). Boys to rebound after humiliating loss to Packers. Boys win by win, fail to cover, but probably lost Romo for season, and the division title with him.
    • Lions over Giants (+8.5), but take the points. Neither team deserves to go anywhere. Giants steal one in OT.
    • Seattle over Arizona (+10.5). Hawks won by 12 in Arizona earlier this season. Arizona wins, stays in Wild Card hunt with rare victory in Seattle.
    • Packers over Pittsburgh (+6.5), but take the points. steelers think they are still playing meaningful football (technically, not eliminated yet) Packers had it, lost it.
    • Chargers over Oakland (+9.5), but take the points. Oakland is 6-5 as the underdog, and Chargers are 2-4 as the Favorite. Chargers double up Oakland to create 3 team train wreck for last Wild Card Spot.
    • Baltimore over New England (+2.5). Both teams play unnecessarily close games. Expect this to go down to the very end. It could have gone down to the end with a Ravens TD… but then things wend horribly wrong.
    • Eagles over Bears (+3.5), but take the points. Eagles are 3-6 as the Favorite this season, and have done poorly at home in general. Eagles Route Bears, set up title match with Boys.
    • Niners over Atlanta (+12.5). SF is 9-3 as the Favorite, and Atlanta is 3-5 as the underdog. Niners win and clinch playoff berth, fail to cover spread.
    • Last Week:: 9-7 Straight Up, and 7-9 Against the Spread
    • Season:: 147-93 Straight Up, and 116-124 Against the Spread
  • NFL Week 17:
    • Baltimore (+5.5) over Cincinnati. I have to blieve, Hon!
    • Carolina over Atlanta (+7.5), but take the points. Panthers are in the playoffs; Atlanta has covered 4 straight.
    • pittsburgh over Browns (+6.5). Stats say to take the points, but the Browns have given up, and the steelers aren’t dead yet.
    • Indy over Jax (+11.5), but take the points. Colts blew out Jags earlier this season, but have nothing to play for with little hope of improving their playoff standings.
    • Fins over Jets (+6.5), but take the points. Fins are 1-4 as a favorite this season, while the Jets are 6-4 as the dog.
    • Minnesota over Lions (+3.5). Two teams with nothing to play for. Took home team.
    • Saints over Tampa (+12.5). Saints need win to make playoffs.
    • Giants over Skins (+3.5). Neither team going anywhere, and last couple skins games have gone down to the very end.
    • Titans over Houston (+6.5). Houston won in week 2 for 1 of their 2 wins, but they just want this season to end.
    • Beras over Packers (+6.5), but take the points. Bears will clinch at home, as Packers show they aren’t playoff material for second straight week.
    • Pats over Bills (+9.5), but take the points. Bills gave Pats troubles earlier this season.
    • Niners over Cards (+3.5), but take the points. Niners have dreams of division title, but Cards need win (and luck) for playoff hopes.
    • Broncos over Raiders (+12.5), but take the points. Broncos need win to keep Home Field advantage, but Raider could present some resistance.
    • Chargers over Chiefs (+9.5), but take the points. KC has nothing to gain, but shouldn’t let Chargers run up the score either.
    • Seattle over Saint Louis (+10.5). Seattle needs win to clinch division Title, and home field advantage.
    • Philly over Dallas (+6.5). Dallas is 5-1 as the underdog, while Philly is 4-6 as the favorite. However, with Romo likely out, I’ll go with Philly, despite the stats.

  1. Need to win in Cincy and hope either Jets upset Fins in Miami or KC plays enough starters to beat the Chargers. I don’t have a good feeling about any of those 3 … but let’s go get the win and keep the fingers crossed! We don’t deserve the playoffs this year … but neither do Miami or SD. Lots of holes to fill in the offseason! Go Ravens!!!
