Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – March 23, 2014

Ravens:
After the initial flurry of activities, the Ravens have been moving more slowly. Ravens acquire center Jeremy Zuttah from Tampa Bay Buccaneers for middle round 2015 draft pick… Sadly, squealers won’t lose a draft pick for Tomlin’s near tackle on Jacoby Jones. Originally, I thought that a draft pick was too severe, but now I think they should just flip flop out draft picks for this year… 21 rules changes are to be proposed to the owners this week. Most significantly is an increase to the height of the goal posts to eliminate kicks going indeterminately over top… Ravens signed Free Agent Darian Stewart (Rams) as James Ihedigbo is expected to sign elsewhere… Rams, Raiders and Chargers are all prime candidates to relocate back to Los Angeles, although the Chargers are starting to look less likely.

Orioles:
Machado will start the season on the 15-day DL, which sadly, will preclude him from being listed on the All-Star Ballot… Chris Tillman gets the nod for opening day starter… Jonathan Schoop is playing his way onto the opening day roster, and could very well be our new anchor at that position… ESPN has picked the Orioles to finish last in the AL East, but what do they know? I think the Orioles have cobbled together a talented team with a lot of depth that could produce some very consistent results throughout the season.

Alouettes
A new proposal could make Pass Interference reviewable.

Mariners
Mariners open with a pre-season win 56-46 over ASI Panthers. Next Game is Friday, April 4 at Rochester.

Blast:
Nothing to report.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing to report.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
The Caps got back into the win column, and are only a tie-breaker away from being in the playoff picture.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards lost 3 of 4 on the west coast trip, but will be home for 3 games starting Wednesday. They have dropped to the 6th seed, behind Brooklyn, but are still well within the playoff picture in the anemic eastern conference.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Schedule has been posted. First game is at home, May 16 against Minnesota.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
United is now 0-2 after losing to Toronto on Saturday. Next game is at home against Chicago on Saturday.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
