Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – April 7, 2014

News and Personal Thoughts:
Congratulations to the Maryland Women’s basketball team who made it to the Final Four.

Ravens:
Ravens sign TE Owen Daniels, which was kind of expected given his connections with the new Ravens coaching staff… Ravens sign backup running back Justin Forsett, who is looking to rebound after an injury plagued season in Jacksonville… Ravens resign Terrance Cody… John Harbaugh sold his house for $2.1M in less than a week, after reportedly moving to another home in the Baltimore area. Apparently he needed a bigger mortgage.

Orioles:
Despite an opening day win against Boston, the Orioles bats have been rather silent, and pitching inconsistent. It is still early in the season to start worrying, especially with opening the season with some of the toughest AL opponents in Boston, Detroit, and the Skanks. Nelson Cruz has been a jackpot so far, but Jimenez and Webb have not earned their keep on the mound. Lombardozzi was an awesome addition, and I love having Schoop up in the majors. However, Flaherty, Reimold, and Lough have to go.

Alouettes
Montreal Alouettes to host Canadian Football Hall of Fame Weekend.

Mariners
Mariners open season with a 52-28 win over Rochester Raiders. Next game is at home, Saturday, April 19 against the Atlanta Sharks.

Blast:
Blasts are running a silent auction for 5 game worn jerseys. See website for details, but bidding starts at $125.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
First game in Sunday, April 27 at Boston.

Charm:
First game is this Saturday, at home against the Jacksonville Breeze.

Capitals (See website for more details):
With 4 games left, the Caps are 4 points away from a playoff spot. Not looking good with the way they have been playing.

Wizards (See website for more details):
With 5 games left, the Wizards have clinched a playoff spot, most likely at the 6 seed, and will probably face either Chicago or Toronto in the first round.

Mystics (See website for more details):
First game is at home, May 16 against Minnesota.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
United gets a win against NE to move to 1-2-1. The next host NY on Saturday.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
