Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – July 11, 2014

Ravens:
Ravens to hold a pair of off-site training camps at M&T Bank, and Navy-Marine Stadiums. The practice at M&T Bank will be July 28 at 7 p.m. and will include a fireworks and laser show. Both off-site sessions will be free.

Orioles:
O’s still playing .500 ball, not really showing that they deserve a playoff chance this year. Machado exploded against Oakland, and will have to pay a suspension price. Basically, teams have learned that you can pitch inside to Manny and get him rattled. To be in the big leagues, he needs to learn to cope.

Alouettes
Als have relieved offensive co-ordinator Rick Worman of his duties just three months after being brought in as part of the new coaching staff
(Not a good sign)… WR Chad Johnson has started running his mouth already and the first preseason game isn’t until June 14. Different league, same Chad.

Mariners
Mariner’s (5-2) will travel to Cape Fear for the Championship game on June 14… A joint press release by the team and the league clearly stated that there was no dispute between the Baltimore arena and the Team/League, but did indicate that it was a financial decision made jointly by the team and league. Translation: They ain’t got no money.

Blast:
Nothing new to report.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
The Bayhawks (1-5) are headed quite clearly from first to worst, using the express train.

Charm:
Charm (0-1) lost season opener to the Jacksonville Breeze 27-12. Next game is June 21 at Toledo.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Mystics are 4-5 and in 4th place (of 6 teams)

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Going 2-0-1 in the last 3 games, United (7-4-4) has taken over 1st place by 2 points over NE. Next game is at Rochester on Tuesday.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NHL
    • Divisional Semifinals (4-4)
    • Divisional Finals (1-3)
    • Conference Finals (1-1)
      • Rangers over Montreal in 6. Montreal won season series 2-1, but the Rangers are peaking right now. Rangers win in 6
      • Hawks over Kings in 5. Blackhawks swept season series 3-0, and I see no reason for that to stop. Kings win 4-3
    • Stanley Cup
      • Kings over Rangers in 7. They split the regular season, but Kings are the hotter team right now.
  • NBA (6-2)
    • Conference Quarter Finals (6-2)
    • Conference Semifinals (3-1)
    • Conference Finals (0-2)
      • Pacers over Miami in 7. Season series split with home team winning every game. Miami wins 4-2
      • OKC over Spurs in 6. OKC swept season series 4-0. Spurs win 4-2
    • Finals
      • Heat over Spurs in 7. Split of the regular season, with home team winning both games.
