Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – O’s-tober 8, 2014

Ravens:
Third down conversions (1 for 11), 3 Turnovers and 4 Sacks allowed. Should we have won? We could have, but didn’t deserve to, and so we remain win-less in our history at Indy. Now, we have a gimme game against Tampa that we need to control from the Git-go and reassert our standing in the division, which could have improved when the Bengals got B-slapped by the Patsies.

Orioles:
The O’s Got medieval on the Tiger cubs and swept them out of the playoffs. Now it’s Power (O’s lead Majors, Royals were worst) against Speed (Royals lead Majors in Steals, Orioles were worst). KC was 5 for 5 in SB against the O’s earlier this season, but KC’s 7 SB in 1 game opened the door for their come from behind Wild Card win against Oakland. The Key will be keep Caleb Joseph behind the plate. Despite his horrific slump (a pitcher batting would do better), he has thrown out 40% of base runners this season, compared to Hundley’s 19%. With all that said, Tillman will only pitch to Hundley, making an interesting scenario for Game 1, when Tillman is predicted to pitch. When all is said and done, I’ll take Power over the Speed, but we need to keep an eye on the speed, because we won’t know what hit us if we don’t. They’ll be long gone.

Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes (5-8) had the week off, and will host Saskatchewan (9-5) on Monday.

Mariners
Nothing to report as the 2015 season remains in question as the battle with the Baltimore Arena remains an issue.

Blast:
Today the MASL release a set of rule changes to be effective this season. See the website for details.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Shooting and Dodging Clinic to be held October 12.

Charm:

Wizards (See website for more details):

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 5:
    • Packers over Vikings (+9.5), but take the points. Too many points to a team that ran up the score last week. Viking ships sailed without them.
    • Indy over Baltimore (+3.5), but take the points. Wishful thinking here. I don’t like the match-up of Luck versus our secondary. We need to win these games.
    • Bears (+2.5) over Panthers. Carolina is depleted. …or maybe it is the Bears that are over-rated now.
    • Cleveland (+1.5) over Tennessee. Browns might actually be a threat. It took a heck of a comeback but they won!
    • Eagles over StL (+7.5). Eagle will get back on the winning track in this game. Rams pull a major comeback, just enough to cover the spread.
    • Giants over Atlanta (+4.5). Giants looked big last week, and the Falcons looked feeble. Touch and go for a while, but Giants were big in the end.
    • steelers over Jax (+6.5). Jags have yet to cover a spread. It was a battle, but they squealed by.
    • Saints over Tampa (+10.5). Saints look dreadful lately, and the Bucs are coming off a win. Tampa covers, but Saints have 6th worst D in NFL.
    • Dallas over Houston (+5.5), but take the points. Battle of Texas should be a close one. Dallas wins, but doesn’t cover.
    • Detroit over Buffalo (+7.5), but take the points. Despite starting Orton, Bills D will keep them in this one. Detroit Kickers are 4-12 this season… and the search continues.
    • Denver over Arizona (+7.5), but take the points. Denver yet to cover as the favorite, and Cards have yet to lose as the dog. Arizona almost covered, but failed to play 4 quarters.
    • SF over KC (+6.5) but take the points. SF isn’t as great as they once were with all the locker room controversy. SF boots 5 FGs to win.
    • Chargers over Jets (+6.5). Jets go to west coast twi-light zone. … and boy did they ever!
    • Bengals over Pats (+1.5). Cincinnati is for real. Bengals apparently can turn pink from embarassment in prime time.
    • Seattle over Washington (+7.5), but take the points. Skins need to bounce back from last Thursday. Late FG by Seattle seals it, and covers the spread.
    • This Week: 12-3 Straight Up and 8-7 Against the Spread
    • Season: 42-34 Straight Up and 36-40 Against the Spread
  • Week 6:
    • Indy over Houston (+2.5). Colts have 2nd best Offense, going against 5th worst Defense.
    • Baltimore over Tampa (+3.5), but take the points. Really think we will win by more than a FG on the road?
    • Tennessee over Jax (+6.5). Jags have yet to cover the spread this season.
    • Denver over Jets (+7.5). I don’t care if they are home, they were still skunked last week by SD, and Denver is a better team!
    • Lions over Vikings (+2.5). Lions are 3-1 as the Favorite, and the Vikings showed what they were made of last week.
    • Buffalo (+2.5) over Patsies. Buffalo is 3-1 as the underdog, while New England is 1-3.
    • Bengals over Panthers (+7.5), but take the points. Panthers are tougher than what we beat, and could keep it close.
    • steelers (+1.5) over Browns. Brainlessburger has never lost to Cleveland in Cleveland. Here’s to hoping, but not how I am picking.
    • Fins (+3.5) over Green Bay. Had this been in Green Bay, I’d have gone the other way.
    • Chargers over Oakland (+7.5). Yeah. Oakland is that bad this year.
    • Falcons over Bears (+3.5), but take the points. Will come down to a last second field goal.
    • Seattle over Dallas (+8.5), but take the points. A lot of points to give up to a Seattle team that is not as dominant as it was last year.
    • Cards over Skins (+3.5). Skins dry out in the Desert.
    • Giants (+2.5) over Philly. Not impressed with Philly lately, and the Giants have found their groove.
    • Niners over Rams (+3.5) but take the points. SF has had a lot of problems with Saint Louis in recent years.
  • MLB: (3-3)
    • AL Wild Card: KC over Oakland. A’s have been fading since they sent Cespedes to Boston for Lester. KC rallies behind record 7 SB in 1 game to take the game
    • NL Wild Card: SF over Pittsburgh. With Bumgartner on the mound, it will be hard for SF to lose. 4 hit shutout.
    • AL Division Series:
      • O’s over Tigers in 4. Tigers have NO bullpen. Any questions?
      • Angels over Royals in 4. Angels have the better team all around. I guess not
    • NL Division Series:
      • Nads over Giants in 4. SF has looked bad lately. Nads once again fail to play ball in October.
      • Dodgers over Cards in 4. Dodgers are the team to beat in the NL. I guess not.
    • ALCS: Os over KC in 6. KC has speed, but Power will win out.
    • NLCS: SF over Saint Louis in 6. SF seems to bring out their best in even year playoffs.
