Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – December 2, 2014

Ravens:
After unexpectedly beating the Saints, the Ravens even the score by flopping against the Chargers. Demonstrating a weak secondary, Rivers picked his receivers at will, with little to no pressure from the Ravens front that was making plays on the first series of downs, and not much afterwards. The Ravens did not play quality football, and the scoreboard showed it. They need to find themselves on the road in Miami against a team that struggles against the Jets on Monday night, but the sour taste in my mouth after Sunday will be hard to wash out, and could keep us out of the playoffs unless they can run the table.

Orioles:
Nelson Cruz took a 4 year contract with the Mariners, and now the O’s turn to Markakis while trying to avoid any deals over 3 years in length.

Alouettes
Calgary wins the 102nd Grey cup, 20-16 over Hamilton.

Mariners
Nothing to report as the 2015 season remains in question as the battle with the Baltimore Arena remains an issue.

Blast:
The Blast moved to 4-0, but returned to earth with an 11-4 win over Syracuse. Next up is a 2 game series against nemesis Milwaukee next weekend.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing to Report.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps continued to drift in the standings at 10-9-4 (24 Points), now 10 points behind the evil penguins.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards (11-5) are still 1.5 games ahead of Atlanta and in the 2 seed, 1.5 games behind Toronto.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 13:
    • Detroit over Bears (+6.5) Serving Bear meat instead of Turkey in Detroit. Delicious.
    • Dallas over Eagles (+3.5), but take the points. These 2 play twice over next 3 weeks, and both should be good games. Romo shows why he doesn’t have very many playoff wins.
    • Seattle (+1.5) over Niners. Saw the Niners play against the Skins and it won’t be pretty if they play the same way against a real opponent. Neither team is very good this year.
    • Baltimore over SD (+5.5). Although taking the points was tempting, the Ravens are 6-1 as the favorite this year. I should have known enough to at least take the points here.
    • Cleveland (+2.5) over Buffalo. Browns are actually playing for something reachable here. Johnny Football era has begun.
    • Houston over Tennessee (+6.5). Houston won by 2 TDs in TN earlier this season, and this game is at home now. Houston is a team to watch out for.
    • Indy over the Potatoes (+9.5). Colts need to play better than last week, but should cover that spread by halftime. Early turnovers overcome, Potatoes get mashed.
    • Giants over Jags (+2.5). When this game ends, will anyone notice that it had started? Jags take advantage of defensive scores for the win.
    • Vikings over Panthers (+2.5). Went with the home team. Carolina has given up.
    • squealors over Aint’s (+3.5). Ben will have his way with the Aint’s, and then turn it over to the running game.Saints silence squeal crowd.
    • Rams over Raiders (+6.5), but take the points. Rams play to the level of their competition, and the Raiders have covered the spread 4 times so far this year. Rams got medieval on them.
    • Bungles over Bucs (+3.5). That spread should be insulting to Cincinnati. Bucs came close to a second upset of AFC North teams.
    • Cards over Atlanta (+2.5). NFC South could be looking at a division leader 4 games under .500 after this weekend. Cards are shuffled without Palmer.
    • Packers over Pats (+3.5), but take the points. Should be Sunday night game of the week! Pats were a missed FG from covering the spread.
    • KC (+1.5) over Denver. Denver won by 7 at home earlier in the season, but I think this time, it will be different. KC fading fast, now down to third place.
    • Fins over Jets (+5.5). Good candidate for blow out of the week. Fins score late FG FTW.
    • This Week: 9-7 Straight Up and 6-10 Against the Spread
    • Season: 116-75-1 Straight Up and 85-107 Against the Spread
  • Week 14:
    • Dallas over Bears (+3.5). Romo to beat team he is supposed to beat.
    • Fins over Ravens (+2.5). Ravens really need this one, but my confidence is weak after last weeks debacle.
    • squeals (+3.5) over Bungles. It’s about time for the Bengals to put up or shut up.
    • Indy over browns (+3.5). Luck is a class above anything the Browns can put out there.
    • Detroit over Tampa (+9.5), but take the points. This game could go either way once you factor in the points.
    • Houston over Jags (+4.5). 2 teams headed in opposite directions.
    • Minnesota over Jets (+5.5). In Minnesota, Vikings have advantage.
    • Saints over Carolina (+9.5). Brees on a mission to prove he ain’t over the hill.
    • Titans (+.5) over Giants. Titans have shown more lately than the Giants.
    • Rams over Potatoes (+2.5) Rams actually think they can salvage this season. skins know they can’t.
    • Chefs (+1.5) over Cards. Cards are nothing without Palmer, although this one is in the desert.
    • Denver over Buffalo (+10.5). As much as I want Buffalo to win, it ain’t happening here.
    • SF over Oakland (+7.5), but take the points. Battle of the Bay will bring Niners to the black hole, and likely will get sucked in.
    • Eagles over Seattle (+1.5). Not impressed with Seattle lately, meanwhile, Eagles are on a roll.
    • Pats over Chargers (+3.5). Brady to bounce back from last weeks loss.
    • Packers over Atlanta (+11.5). Blow out of the week.
