Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report for January 7, 2015

Ravens:
Wow! Everyone believed but me… of course that was after Bell was declared out for the game. Pittsburgh was NOT ready for that game. Without Bell, they literally had NO game plan, and Ben was not right after he got his “bell” rung. It was awesome hearing Seven Nations Army singing on the TV with a few minutes left. That was not the same inconsistent team that I watched all season long. They played a complete game against a decent team. Now, they have to bring that same game plan and intensity to another arch-rival. They key will be getting to Brady early and often. If he hears Suggs and Dumervil coming, he will rush his passes and take him off his game. Let’s bring it!

Orioles:
Orioles still can’t figure out the ticket plans for next year, but Fanfest is still scheduled for January 31st.

Alouettes
Nothing to report.

Mariners
Further research indicates that the team may be defunct or without a league. The Maryland Eagles, based in Laurel, is now
a member of the league with a 4 game road schedule set for next season.

Blast:
The Blast (9-0) defeated Harrisburg 29-8 on Saturday to complete their 3 game home trip. Next game is Saturday against Syracuse before hitting the road again.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
2015 schedule has been announced. Hawks open at home April 19th against Florida.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps (20-11-7, 47 Points) remained 6 points behind the evil penguins.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards (23-11) hit a funk, dropping 3 in a row, but are on the “rebound.” The Wizards are now 3 games behind Atlanta, who holds the top seed in the conference now, and sit in the number 4 spot.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 17:
    • Panthers over Cards (+4.5). That’s right. 7-8-1 team over 11-5. Cards are nothing without Palmer. Cards made that look easy.
    • squealors over RAVENS (+3.5). Our secondary is still tertiary. Glad to be wrong!!!
    • Indy over Cincy (+4.5). Colts walloped them 27-0 earlier this season. This could be similar. Cincy still can’t hand the prime time.
    • Boys over Lions (+7.5). The Points tempted me, but Detroit is 0-4 as the under…er…Lion this year. Dallas tried to give it away.
    • This Week: 3-1 Straight Up and 2-2 Against the Spread
    • Season: 161-98-1 Straight Up and 116-144 Against the Spread
  • Wild Card Round:
    • Pats over Ravens (+7.5), but take the points. Really, I have no clue which Raven’s team will show up!
    • Seattle over Carolina (+11.5), but take the points. Seattle won 13-9 in Carolina earlier this year, and I expect a similarly tight game.
    • Packers over Dallas (+6.5). Dallas doesn’t belong here. They barely won a Wild Card Game in which they should have gotten medieval on the wimpy Lions.
    • Denver over Indy (+7.5), but take the points. Indy lost 31-24 at Denver to start the season, and I think both teams are headed in opposite directions. However, I still think Indy’s string of Luck will run out here.
