Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – January 13, 2015

Ravens:
That game did NOT end correctly. The trick play and the 2nd Flacco INT cost us a deserved trip to the AFC Championship game. I don’t know why we were pushing the ball into the end zone at that point instead of burning the clock down and shrinking the field. Now, free agent hell, and the annual reaping of our coaching staff. Fortunately, Kubiak intends to stay and not entertain offers from other teams, but it’s a long off season.

Orioles:
Fanfest is still scheduled for January 31st, and I am still begging for info on my season tickets… wtf?

Alouettes
Nothing to report.

Mariners
Further research indicates that the team may be defunct or without a league. The Maryland Eagles, based in Laurel, is now
a member of the league with a 4 game road schedule set for next season.

Blast:
The Blast (10-0) defeated Syracuse 22-4, and are headed to a 2 game road trip to Milwaukee and Detroit this weekend.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
2015 schedule has been announced. Hawks open at home April 19th against Florida.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps (23-11-8, 54 Points) moved to within 3 points of the evil penguins.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards (25-12) slipped to 4 games behind Atlanta after losing to them this week, but moved back to the #3 spot.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Divisional Round:
    • Pats over Ravens (+7.5), but take the points. Really, I have no clue which Raven’s team will show up! Unfortunately right, but still the wrong result. We should have won outright. We ARE the better team.
    • Seattle over Carolina (+11.5), but take the points. Seattle won 13-9 in Carolina earlier this year, and I expect a similarly tight game. Pick 6 keeps takes Carolina out of contention for the game, and for covering the points.
    • Packers over Dallas (+6.5). Dallas doesn’t belong here. They barely won a Wild Card Game in which they should have gotten medieval on the wimpy Lions. Pack had to work for it, but got the win finally, failed to cover.
    • Denver over Indy (+7.5), but take the points. Indy lost 31-24 at Denver to start the season, and I think both teams are headed in opposite directions. However, I still think Indy’s string of Luck will run out here. Indy pulls upset, makes elway tongue tied.
    • This Week: 3-1 Straight Up and 2-2 Against the Spread
    • Season: 164-99-1 Straight Up and 118-146 Against the Spread
  • Conference Championships:
    • Seattle over Packers (+7.5). Seattle won by 20 in the regular season, and will do the same here.
    • Patsies over Colts (+7.5). Ningland ran up the score on Indy in the regular season, and could do the same. It all depends on which Luck shows up.

I couldn’t agree more. It was absurd that we were trying a touchdown pass. Even without the safety coming over Smith didn’t have enough separation.
