Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – September 22, 2015

News and Personal Thoughts:
The GoogleDoc ticket sharing status: Seats now available for Jax, StL, KC, Sea and Pit; Tickets wanted for SD, KC and @Mia. Check it out at Ravens Roost 4 Ticket Exchange.

Ravens:
My preseason fears have now materialized with Suggs out, no pass rush, and an exposed weak secondary. Problems are too many to count, and we could be looking at one of the worst starts in a very long time. 0-2 and heading home, but to face a Bengal team that thumped the Oakland team that carved us up like Swiss cheese, and then to pittsburgh on a short week. After seeing what the steelers did to San Fran, that might be a good night to go to bed early too. Unless answers are found on defense, we might have to outscore everyone, and we aren’t exactly built for that kind of high powered offense. Next 2 games are must win to re-establish hope.

Orioles:
Every time I get a glimmer of hope, they choke. Britton flunked Sunday again, and put the O’s 5.5 games back in the wild card. With 4 teams to leap frog and 13 games left, there isn’t much to play for other than pride at this point.

Alouettes
Montreal (5-6) beat Winnipeg on Sunday and moved within 2.5 games of first place as Hamilton lost their starting QB for the season due to injury.

Blast (MASL):
Nothing to report.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
2016 season tickets now on sale.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Preseason has begun, and 3-on-3 OT format is getting an extended preseason view.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Mystics won the first game, but then dropped the next 2 in a Best-of-3 opening series with #1 New York.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
DC (13-11-6, 45 points) is fading fast, dropping to 4th place, 3 points behind New York.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Week 2
    • KC over Denver (+2.5). Not sure if our Defense was good, or if Manning has gotten bad. Things were going fine until 2 TDs within 10 seconds in the last minute of the game.
    • Houston (+3.5) over Jax. Anyone can look impressive against Jacksonville. Maybe not.
    • Saints over Tampa (+9.5). Tampa will continue to struggle with Rookie QB. Brees injured.
    • Pit over SF (+5.5), but take the points. steelers hung in there against NE, but SF isn’t that bad, are they? steelers looked good 🙁
    • Detroit (+3.5) over MN. After Monday’s performance, I’ll go with Detroit. Minnesota bounced back.
    • Buffalo (+2.5) over New England. I just want to see Brady cry. Furious comeback falls short, but still watch out for the Bills.
    • Cards over Bears (+2.5). Beating Saints at home not a fluke. Cards got medieval on the Bears.
    • Titans over Cleveland (+0.5). Browns could be heading South… fast. Browns rebound, Ravens heading South.
    • Bengals over Chargers (+3.5). Bengals trying to stake claim to division again. Chargers made it close in the end.
    • Rams over Skins (+3.5). Really? Only 3.5 points? Have the odds makers watched them play? Rams showed up, but not in Washington.
    • Giants over Atlanta (+2.5). Eli to rebound with a win. Falcons win on the Road.
    • Baltimore over Oakland (+6.5). Ravens to rebound heartily. Umm… That was the plan…
    • Fins over Jags (+6.5). Miami is poised to make some noise this year. Talked to a friend who said that over 60 people in a 75 person survival pool got bounced this weekend, primarily due to this game.
    • Dallas (+5.5) over Philly. Going with the NFC East Road team again. Romo out 8 weeks, but NFC East division game got to the Road team again.
    • Packers over Seattle (+3.5), but take the points. I call for OT in this game. Pack come back late for the win.
    • Colts over Jets (+6.5). Luck will be back this week. Colts can’t get out of their own way.
    • This Week: 5-11 SU (Straight Up), 4-12 ATS (Against the Spread)
    • This Season: 17-15 SU, 15-17 ATS
  • NFL, Week 3
    • Giants over Skins (+3.5), but take the points. Exception to my rule when the Skins are playing.
    • steelers over Rams (+1.5). Now sure how things could go for the Rams here.
    • Chargers (+2.5) over Minnesota. Which teams will show up?
    • Tampa (+6.5) over Houston. Houston should be better, and Tampa worse, but is that the case?
    • Jets over Philly (+2.5). Eagles have shown me nothing so far.
    • Panthers over Saints (+3.5). Carolina 2-0 and could be a force in the South.
    • Pats over Jags (+13.5). Nevermind last week, Brady will run up the score.
    • Bengals (+2.5) over Ravens. Do you really think we can win when the Bengals had their way with Oakland, and we flopped?
    • Browns over Oakland (+3.5), but take the points. I want to belive Oakland is good this year. I also want a million dollars.
    • Indy over Tennessee (+3.5). Luck will school the young QB.
    • Falcons over Dallas (+1.5). We’ll have to see how a Cleveland QB reject works for Dallas.
    • Cards over SF (+6.5). Sf is going no where fast is last week is any gauge.
    • Seattle over Chicago (+14.5), but take the points. Not sure Seahawks will run up the score that much.
    • Bills (+2.5) over Miami. Fins lost to the jags. Any questions?
    • Broncos over Lions (+2.5). Denver 2-0 and Lions are 0-2.
    • Packers over KC (+6.5). Points were VERY tempting on this one.
