Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – December 8, 2015

News and Personal Thoughts:
GoogleDoc ticket sharing status: 3 postings for Seattle, 1 for Pittsburgh still. Check it out at Ravens Roost 4 Ticket Exchange.

Ravens:
Well, if it weren’t for bad luck, we would have no luck at all. Pick6 Schaub shows why he ain’t starting anymore, wasting a defensive gem by virtually giving away 2 TDs to cost us the game. You can score at least 7 more points to the ref on the bogus Pass Interference call. As a matter of fact, a co-worker’s son had the idea that Madden 2016 should include a “realistic ref” mode, where random bad calls would be inserted. This has merit. With 8 losses, the best we can hope for is either 8-8… or possibly 4-12. Although only Cleveland has been eliminated, I am thinking draft picks.

Orioles:
Orioles are still pushing for Davis, but re-signed O’Day. This is sign number 2 (Trumbo trade was #1), that the Orioles are diverting more money to Plan B, than to hopes of Davis. Next on the agenda is a corner lefty outfielder plus a 2nd tier starting pitcher. Top tier starter is unrealistic on our budget.

Alouettes
Nothing to report.

Blast (MASL):
The Blasts improved to 5-0 and now stands alone in the ranks of the undefeated.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing new to report: The Bayhawks open the season on April 23 in Atlanta, before 3 straight home games.

Capitals (See website for more details):
The Caps are now 18-5-2, still 1 point behind the Rangers, 3rd in conference and 4th best record in the NHL.

Wizards (See website for more details):
At 9-10, the Wizards are now in last place in the division.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to Report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Portland defeated Columbus 2-1 for the MLS cup.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Week 13
    • Green Bay over Detroit (+3.5), but take the points. With the play of GB lately, taking Detroit might not be bad. Pack have failed to win last 5 as favorites, while Lions have won their last 3 as underdogs. Lions jumped up early, but couldn’t hold it.
    • Ravens (+5.5) over Miami. Even with Schaub at QB, I think we can take them. (^&(*&%&^(%$(*&^*^%$
    • Buffalo over Houston (+3.5). Went with the Home team. Buffalo wins, stays in playoff hunt.
    • Bengals over Browns (+7.5). Manziel still benched, McCown out for the season. Manziel to start next week.
    • Bears over Niners (+6.5). Heads or tails? I waffled more than IHOP on this one. Missed extra point by Niners allows overtime, where they win by 6.
    • Jags (+2.5) over Titans. I really think the Jags are turning a corner… or was that the Titans were turning a corner? Missed extra point drives difference in game.
    • Vikings (+.5) over Seattle. Vikings are destined for something this year. Just not sure what. Seattle reappears. Hopefully gone this week.
    • Giants over Jets (+1.5). So who is really the home team? Missed FG allows Jets to win in OT.
    • Cards over Rams (+5.5). Cards division to lose. Not this season. Cards crush.
    • Tampa over Atlanta (+2.5). Atlanta might not win another one this season. Falcons couldn’t hold lead, fall again.
    • Broncos over Chargers (+4.5), but take the points. Tough division match-up that I expect to be close. SD out of sorts against Denver D.
    • Raiders (+3.5) over KC. Raiders are 5-2 as the underdogs. KC poised to finish season strong.
    • Carolina over Saints (+7.5). Mismatch. Saints give Carolina a run for their money, but only a run.
    • Patriots over Eagles (+9.5). Line dropped by 3 points when Gronk was declared out. Pats lose 2nd in a row!
    • steelers over Colts (+6.5), but take the points. Colts are 5-0 as the underdog. Colts still out of Luck.
    • skins over Cowboys (+4.5). With Romo out, Dallas can’t win jack. Well, neither team wanted that one!
    • This Week: 8-8 SU (Straight Up), 5-11 ATS (Against the Spread)
    • This Season: 114-78 SU, 97-95 ATS
  • NFL, Week 14
    • Arizona over Vikings (+7.5), but take the points. I don’t like this match-up on the short week, but a great Thursday night game.
    • Seattle over Baltimore (+7.5), but take the points. We haven’t lost by more than a score yet, so why start now?
    • Bills over Eagles (+.5). Which Eagle team shows up?
    • SF (+1.5) over Cleveland. SF to extend win streak to 2.
    • Panthers over Atlanta (+7.5). Falcons have wasted a excellent season start.
    • Bears over Skins (+3.5), but take the points. Down to a last second FG, again!
    • Bengals over Squealors (+3.5). I so wanted to pick pit to win, but Cincinnati is 9-1 as the favorite, while stealers are 2-4 as the dog.
    • Rams over Lions (+.5). Although Lions have come on strongly lately, Rams for the win.
    • Colts (+.5) over Jags. Colts 5-1 as the underdog, although they lost last week in the same situation.
    • Chefs over Chargers (+9.5). Chefs are thinking playoffs. Chargers are thinking KC BBQ.
    • Tampa over Saints (+3.5). Tampa on the fringe of playoffs… Saints, not so much.
    • Jets over Titans (+7.5), but take the points. Jets are the better team, but Titans should make a game of it.
    • Denver over Oakland (+7.5), but take the points. Raiders are 5-3 as the underdog, while Denver is 4-4 as the favorite.
    • Packers over Dallas (+7.5). Should be a blow out.
    • Patsies over Houston (+3.5). NE to bring it on prime time after back to back losses.
    • Midgets over Doll-Fins (+1.5). Will anyone notice when this game ends? Starts?
