Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – December 29, 2015

Ravens:
THE RAVENS WIN THE SUPERBOWL!!! Ok, not really, but defeating arch-nemesis twice in one season, especially when our season has been lost for some time now is a MAJOR victory. The all-time record is now 20-24 against our premium foes, which means 4 more to go to even the score! Next week against Cincinnati is pretty much irrelevant. We could lose 73-0 and no one would care. Winning next week proves nothing and only further fouls up our draft order. Beating the squealors dropped us from #3 down to #8, so let’s not f this up further. No one cares about Cincinnati. Let them have it. We beat the steelers twice and put their playoff hopes in the hands of the New York Jets. If they fail to make the playoffs, we can honestly say that we held them out. Ryan “The Crab” Mallet played a solid game, and left me feeling more comfortable at the helm than Joe Flacco.

Orioles:
Recent rumors have the Orioles as the favorite to land OF Yoenis Cespedes… Speculation is that no one wants to play Chris Davis the money that Scott Boras wants because they believe his numbers are inflated by living in a hitter friendly Camden yards while harboring a high strike out ratio. In the end, this could lead Davis back to Baltimore, but have we move on past that option?

Alouettes
Nothing to report.

Blast (MASL):
The Blast (7-0) were off this week. Next game is at Harrisburg on New Years Eve.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing new to report: The Bayhawks open the season on April 23 in Atlanta, before 3 straight home games.

Capitals (See website for more details):
The Caps (27-6-2) extended their win streak to 8 games, and are now only 1 point behind Dallas for best record in the NHL.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Briefly at .500, the Wizards lost their 4 game win streak Monday night to drop to 14-15.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to Report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Nothing to Report.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Week 16
    • Oakland over SD (+5.5), but take the points. Lousy match-up to provide close game that no one wants. Decided by a FG in OT.
    • Skins (+3.5) over Eagles. With a win, Skins could make it to the promised land. Skins make the playoffs, ruining my dream of a major divisional train wreck going into week 17.
    • squealors over Ravens (+10.5). With streak done, so are we. Blow out potential. We could have blown them out, had it not been for the off-sides.
    • Tampa over Bears (+2.5). Tampa 3-2 as favorites, Bears 5-6 as underdog. Bears win on the road.
    • Carolina over Atlanta (+6.5). Atlanta’s 7-7 record is VERY inflated. Falcons end Panther perfection.
    • Bills over Dallas (+6.5). Last 3 match-ups of these two has features 13 Turnovers by the visitors, and only 1 by the home team. Bills win continuing home team dominance in series.
    • Lions over Niners (+8.5). Lions to win again, but SF to keep it close. Lions further bury Niners.
    • KC over Cleveland (+12.5). KC needs this for division and Wild card hopes. Clock management negatively impact Brown upset hopes; KC Clinches playoffs.
    • Indy (+0.5) over Miami. Fins are watching the draft board, not the scoreboard. Indy beats lowly Miami, but needs a miracle to make playoffs.
    • Pats over Jets (+3.5), but take the points. Pats have clinched a bye, are are closed to home field. Jets are a tie-breaker off the playoff picture. Jets take it to OT and win after Pats elected to kickoff.
    • Houston (+4.5) over Tennessee. Despite injuries and .500 record, Houston owns their fate to division title. Texans have choke hold on the division. Need win next week to seal the deal.
    • Saints over Jags (+3.5). Which Saints team to show up? Saints win big at home.
    • Packers (+4.5) over Cards. Cards have virtually locked up 2 seed (2 games back of Carolina and 2 games ahead of GB), while Green Bay is only 1 game ahead of MN for division title. Pack have more at stake. Cards got medieval on the Pack, dream of top seed with Panthers losing.
    • Seattle over Rams (+13.5). Hawks are the team to be watch right now. Seattle in the playoffs, and didn’t look to improve their lot in this game with division decided.
    • Vikings over Giants (+5.5), but take the points. Giants pushing to stay relevant, Vikings pushing for division title shot. Viking looking forward to division title rematch on Sunday night.
    • Denver over Cincinnati (+3.5), but take the points. Denver keeps losing it late, and Cincinnati is working over a backup generator. Denver wins in OT on FG allowing Bengals to cover.
    • This Week: 10-6 SU (Straight Up), 8-8 ATS (Against the Spread)
    • This Season: 146-94 SU, 121-119 ATS
  • NFL, Week 17
    • Bengals over the Ravens (+7.5). I win would be nice, but would cost us big in the draft. We have nothing to gain by winning.
    • Jets over Bills (+2.5). Bills have a chance to be spoilers, but Jets proved they want to make the playoffs last week against NE.
    • Pats over Fins (+9.5). For once Miami gets this game at home in December, but it won’t help. Fins are 2-7 as the underdog.
    • Saints (+4.5) over Falcons. Atlanta got their claim to fame last week, knocking off Carolina.
    • Texans over Jags (+6.5). Texans control their own destiny.
    • steelers over Browns (+9.5), but take the points. In the end, steelers will win, but Cleveland will but up a heck of a fight first.
    • Titans (+6.5) over Colts. Despite slim division title hopes, Colts will fall to Tennessee, as they are 1-6 as favorites.
    • Washington (+3.5) over Dallas. This is Dallas’ Super Bowl, but being at home makes this a bigger hurdle in this division.
    • Bears over Lions (+.5). Lions won by 3 at home earlier this season. Expect a flip-flop this time around.
    • Eagles (+3.5) over Giants. Philly won by 20 earlier this season, and with both team done, expect the road team to be on top again.
    • KC over Oakland (+6.5), but take the points. Raiders are 6-4 as the underdog, and KC is already in the playoffs but has division title dreams.
    • Carolina over Tampa (+10.5). Panthers need win for home field advantage throughout playoffs, and beat Tampa by 14 in Tampa earlier this season already.
    • Denver over Chargers (+8.5), but take the points. Chargers have covered 4 times this season, and the Broncos have failed to cover thrice.
    • Rams over SF (+3.5). Rams are playing for pride, hoping they won’t be forced to re-locate.
    • Cardinals over Seattle (+6.5). Seattle has clinched the 6th seed with no chance to advance. Cards want home field.
    • Packers over Vikings (+3.5), but take the points. Packers won by 17 earlier this season in Minnesota, but winner gets a home playoff game.
