Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – January 12, 2016

Ravens:
The Ravens have a large task in front of them. They need to restructure a few contracts, negotiate with a few of their own free agents, and figure out how to fill in the holes left by non-returning players. No major changes will come until after the Stupor Bowl. I expect a majority of the coaching staff to stay intact, Flacco to be have his contract restructured, Tucker to be extended or franchised, and Forsett to be released for younger, healthier options.

Orioles:
Apparently, Chris Davis is holding the free-agent market ransome. Until he is signed, a number of other medium to big names are holding out across the league.

Alouettes
Nothing to report.

Blast (MASL):
The Blast (11-0) took 2 more this past weekend to stay undefeated. With 9 games left, the Blast have clinched a playoff berth.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing new to report: The Bayhawks open the season on April 23 in Atlanta, before 3 straight home games.

Capitals (See website for more details):
The Caps (32-7-3) have gotten back onto another winning streak, and are 5 points ahead of Dallas for best record in the NHL.

Wizards (See website for more details):
The Wizards are still trying to get back to sea level at 17-19.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to Report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Regular season starts March 6, but they have a Away-and-home series with Queretaro F.C. on February 23 and March 1.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Wild Card Weekend
    • KC over Houston (+3.5). Houston is champion of the dung heap. Now they have to play with the big boys. Houston got skunked.
    • Pit over Cincy (+2.5). Real question is whether or not Marvin Lewis still has a job after another 1 and down playoff run. Cincinnati will have to live with the fact that they lost that game horrifically.
    • Seattle over MN (+5.5), but take the points. Vikings are 5-1 as the underdog, but Seattle is peaking at the right time. I have no words. That was embarassing for MN. I couldn’t believe he missed that. I just stared in disbelief.
    • GB (1.5) over Wash. Like Houston, Skins rose out of a weak division, and now they have to play for keeps. Go with the playoff experience. When I watched, the skins scored. When I turned it off, GB scored. I left the TV off.
    • This Week: 4-0 SU (Straight Up), 3-1 ATS (Against the Spread)
    • This Season: 159-101 SU, 134-126 ATS
  • NFL, Divisional Weekend
    • NE over KC (+5.5), but take the points. Team are even. Go with the Home team to win.
    • Cards over GB (+7.5). GB was good to go in the WC round, but not in the divisional round where they will be overmatched.
    • Carolina over Seattle (+2.5). Carolina could be the team of destiny this season.
    • Denver over Pit (+6.5), but take the points. Denver won’t have a meltdown like they did in the regular season, but it won’t be a cake walk either. It will be close.
