Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – January 20, 2016

Ravens:
Ain’t nothing going down until the Stupor bowl is down. A few minor coach shiftings, but right now is when they contemplate which Free Agents t re-sign, which Free Agents on the open market they want to pursue, and what they will need for the draft. Osemele and Tucker lead the class of Ravens Free Agents. Expect Osemele to re-sign to a lucrative deal, and Tucker is a prime candidate for the franchise tag. Other big names the Ravens are likely to negotiate with include Courtney Upshaw, Albert McClellan, Morgan Cox, Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown, Jeremy Butler and Terrence West. All told, there are 13 Unrestricted Free Agents, 7 Restricted Free Agents, and 11 Exclusive Rights Free Agents.

Orioles:
I talked to my ticket rep today, and the Orioles are evaluating ticket prices, as is evidenced by the fact that they haven’t sent out invoices to season ticket holders yet. I expect an increase with Davis now signed to a deal that will pay him for the next 17 years, well after he is done playing.

Alouettes
Player migration has begun.

Blast (MASL):
The Blast (11-0) were joined by Missouri and Chicago (both 11-3) as having clinched a playoff berth.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing new to report: The Bayhawks open the season on April 23 in Atlanta, before 3 straight home games.

Capitals (See website for more details):
The Caps (35-8-3) now have an 18 point division lead, 16 point conference lead, and 5 point lead over Chicago for best record in the NHL.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Everytime the Wizards (19-21) hit .500, they go on a slide.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to Report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Regular season starts March 6, but they have a Away-and-home series with Queretaro F.C. on February 23 and March 1.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Divisional Weekend
    • NE over KC (+5.5), but take the points. Team are even. Go with the Home team to win. Not, quite enough points, as it turned out.
    • Cards over GB (+7.5). GB was good to go in the WC round, but not in the divisional round where they will be over matched. Green Bay ties it at the buzzer, Cards make quick work of GB in OT.
    • Carolina over Seattle (+2.5). Carolina could be the team of destiny this season. Up 31-0, Carolina took a 2nd half nap.
    • Denver over Pit (+6.5), but take the points. Denver won’t have a meltdown like they did in the regular season, but it won’t be a cake walk either. It will be close. Denver slept most of the game, but put up points when they needed it.
    • This Week: 4-0 SU (Straight Up), 1-3 ATS (Against the Spread)
    • This Season: 163-101 SU, 135-129 ATS
  • NFL, Championship Weekend
    • NE over Denver (+3.5), but take the points. Records ATS favors Denver, but they doomed themselves by creating a QB controversy in time for the playoffs.
    • Carolina over Arizona (+3.5). Carolina is 10-4 ATS, and don’t expect them to rest on a 31-0 lead this time.
