Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – November 16, 2016

News and Personal Thoughts:
From my sponsor: Time is running out to order your Winter Holidays citrus from Marriotts Ridge High School! Sale ends this Friday, 11/18, so order your fresh oranges and grapefruit at www.mrhsfruit.com.
Please credit Ichniowski with any orders, and let me know if you need assistance with the pick up, which is scheduled for Saturday, 12/17.

Ravens:
Easy part of the schedule is done with an easy (relatively speaking) win over the directionless Browns, who are my new favorite team for 1 week (since they play the squealors). The game had it’s ups and downs, and in the end, the Browns lost the game, giving us the win (again), but this week’s Raven’s match-up will prove to be much more challenging. Going on the road as 7 point underdogs, the Cowboys could run all over us if they go to the air. On the ground, the Ravens look tough as ever. Offensively, we are still not giving Flacco enough time to make good decisions (and sometime when he has enough time, he still doesn’t make good decisions). As the dust is settling, the truth remains, the Ravens are in 1st place, and will remain there for another week. Go team!

Orioles:
Trumbo declined qualifying offer; Wieters not offered one. The Orioles are hoping Trumbo comes back on a multi-year deal after spending the last 3 seasons with 3 different teams, and thriving here in Baltimore. I am just not sure we will offer him enough to stay. Wieters on the other hand, could be back on a lesser deal after he finds out that his market value isn’t what he thought it was.

Alouettes
Edmonton defeated Hamilton to advance to the Eastern Final against Ottawa while BC defeated Winnipeg to advance to the face Calgary in the Estern Final.

Blast (MISL):
Darn Milwaukee evens Blast record at 1-1.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Hawks release 2017 schedule.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps (9-4-2) have slumped into 4th place, 6 points back.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards (2-7) are tied for 4th worst record in NBA.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
#2 Colorado faces #4 Seattle in the Western Coference, while #3 Toronto faces #5 Montreal in the Eastern Conference. First leg is next Tuesday, 11/22.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 9:
    • @Bal over Cleveland (+9.5), but take the points. Come on, we haven’t had a game decided by more than 8 points since last season. Finally, a somewhat comfortable looking final score.
    • Hou over @Jax (+1.5). First versus last. Texans win. Houston by 3.
    • KC (+2.5) over @Car. Chefs are 6-2, and Panthers are 3-5. No brainer. Chefs win.
    • Den (+1.5) over @NO. Denver looking to get back on top, while Saints are looking for who they are (Who dat?). Block PAT for 2 for the win!
    • @NYJ over Rams (+1.5). Two teams with comparable records, going with the home team. And we lost to the Jets? Oy!
    • Atlanta (+0.5) over @Philadelphia. Falcons are 5-0 as the underdog. Eagles win by 9
    • MN (+2.5) over @Was. Despite 3 straight losses, Vikings to get back on the winning path. Vikings suck.
    • @TN (+2.5) over GB. Packers 1-6 as the favorite so far this year. Titans got medieval on the pack; eat their cheese.
    • @TB over Chi (+0.5). Heads or tails? Home team wins. Bears are not the Cubs.
    • @SD over Miami (+3.5), but take the points. East going West doesn’t translate well. Miami wins it late.
    • @AZ over SF (+13.5). Forget the points, Niners are 1-7 as the underdog. SF kept it close enough to cover.
    • Dallas (+2.5) over @Pit. Cowboys tied for best record in the league. Now, they have the best record!
    • @NE over Sea (+7.5). Tempted by those points, but in NE in prime time tells me Russell Wilson will have a bad day. Quite the contrary.
    • @NYG over Cin (+2.5). Giants are probably a playoff team. Bengals, probably not.Bengals lose by 1.
    • This Week: 9-5 SU, 7-7 ATS
    • This Season: 79-66-2 SU, 70-77 ATS
  • Week 10:
    • NO (+3.5) over @Car. Battle for Last Place. Saints 5-0 as the underdog.
    • @Dal over Bal (+7.5), but take the points. Dallas is 4-0 as the favorite, while Baltimore is 0-2 as the underdog. However, we have a tendency to keep games close, so that is the way to bet.
    • TN (+3.5) over @Ind. I like Tennessee’s offense better. Otherwise, flip a coin.
    • @Det over Jax (+6.5), but take the points. Detroit is in first place, but Jags can be surprising.
    • @KC over TB (+7.5), but take the points. Chefs have failed to cover thrice.
    • @NYG over Chi (+7.5). Despite Giants failing to cover 3 times so far, the Bears really don’t have much to offer.
    • AZ (+0.5) over @MN. I watched most of that Viking/skin debacle. Forget the 5-0 start, they are nothing.
    • Buf (+2.5) over @Cin. Tyrod Taylor is the better QB these days.
    • Pit over @Cle (+8.5), but take the points. Browns have covered 4 times so far this season. Watching them play, I am not sure how, but they did!
    • @LAR (+1.5) over Mia. 2 .500 teams. Going with the Left coaster.
    • NE over @SF (+13.5). SF won’t cover that line 2 weeks in a row.
    • @Sea over Phi (+6.5), but take the points. Seattle has failed to cover 3 time so far, but they are home after beating NE.
    • @Was over GB (+2.5). I need to stop betting against the skins, and maybe they will start losing again.
    • @Oak over Hou (+5.5), but take the points. Both teams bad against the spread, so I am guessing this will be a close game.
