Roost #4 Reminders – Bull Roast Saturday, Meeting Monday!
Just a few quick reminders …
Roost #4 holds their Annual Bull & Oyster Roast at 7pm this Saturday night (3/23) at The Lodge in Catonsville. The event is basically SOLD OUT. Our two Roost #4 Formula 4 Success Scholarship awards will be presented to the recipients at the event! Members attending are still encouraged to donate a bottle of booze to be used as a prize on the wheel (if you haven’t already done so).
Roost #4 has their monthly meeting at 7pm this coming Monday night (3/25) at Jilly’s.
As for the raffle tickets for the two 2013 Ravens Season tickets, if you haven’t yet picked-up your raffle tickets (all Roost #4 members are committed to sell at least 5 tickets each), please do so prior to Monday’s meeting at Jilly’s (tickets will be available from 6-7 pm) or at our Bull & Oyster Roast this Saturday (from 7-9pm). If you’re unable to attend the bull roast or meeting, please ask a friend to pick-up your tickets so we don’t have to mail them out. The raffle of the Ravens season tickets funds our Roost #4 Formula 4 Success Scholarship Fund.
Ravens Roost 4 Pack
Bob and Wendy Caldwell will be doing the 18th annual March for the Animals, the Maryland SPCA’s largest annual fundraiser. They are looking for Roost members to join in the fun and do the walk with them. Those interested to contact Bob at mr.bobcaldwell1[at]hotmail.com. Walkers can bring their dogs, and although cat owners walk the event, it is usually without their pets.
If there is enough interest from the Roost, Bob would like to form a Ravens Roost pack, and have ‘Ravens Roost 4′ appear on our event t-shirts.

- Round 3 and Round 4 questions.

Polar Bear Plunge 2013
- The day started early for us, we left for Sandy Point State Park at 6am.
- We were some of the first to arrive in the pre-dawn hours.
- Of course, that didn’t stop us from getting to the drinking just after 7am.
- The event is an alcohol-free event, unless you are with a Ravens Roost.
- The beach was fresh with snow, but within hours, it would be a sea of bathing suit clad people.
The super plungers (plunging once an hour for 24 hours) made their 23rd hourly dip. You need to raise $10,000 to be a super plunger.
- The blue wrist band indicates we were part of the group doing the plunge.
- Captain Dee-Fense stopped by and said hello.
- The Roost #4 plungers pose with Hall of Fans Inaugural Class member, Captain Dee-Fense.
- It was really cold, and the ladies mostly stayed inside the RV.
- The press was there getting a picture of all the various Roost members and this is the picture from the backside.
- By later in the morning, the lot was filling up nicely. Many roosts charted buses for the event.
- The time had come for us to don our bathing suits and had to the beach.
- Remember, it is not safe to plunge if you have consumed alcohol.
- The beach had become overrun with people.
Nothing like an “O” to let you know you are in the Baltimore area.
- A last minute check before heading into the water.
Go time!!! We all made a way into the water for the ice cold plunge!!!!
At the time of this post the Roost had raised $785. Check this page for more information or to make a donation:

Pay It Forward: Ravens Roost #4 Adopted 7 Families
This year the Ravens Roost adopted 7 families of three children each through the Salvation Army for our Pay It Forward effort. Seven team captains volunteered to take on the responsibility of raising $100.00 for food gift cards and presents (clothes and toys) for the families. The Roost also donated an additional $700.00 dollars for food for Thanksgiving for those same families.
In addition Ravens Roost #4 donated toys to the Families Who Have been Affected by Domestic Violence. In that effort, Jack and Candace raffled off a Torrey Smith autographed jersey to buy clothes and toys. Jack and Candace also held a toy drive during the Roost’s annual Christmas party and bowling event to raise money for Special Olympics.
Candace was happy to report that her SUV was loaded to the ceiling with all of the generous gifts. Jack and Candace, as chair of this years effort, want to thank each of you for your kindness. It means so much for these families.
- Dropping off gifts at the Salvation Army.
- Toys at the house of Candace and Jack.
- Salvation Army Gift Drop.
- More Toys at Salvation Army.
- Bikes that wouldn’t fit in the house.
- More toys and gifts in the living room.
- Again, the living room, how generous.
- Baby toys.
- Toys from Drive Ready to be delivered.
- Dropping off toys at Domestic Violence Center Party.
