2009 marks the 50th Anniversary of Ravens Roost #4 (originally Colts Corral #4)!

This is a very special year for our Ravens Roost #4! On June 10th, 1959, Colts Corral #4 was officially chartered.  The club supported the Baltimore Colts over the years until they skipped town in 1984, but rather than disbanding the club, remained together and active during the years without a professional football team and during the tenures of the USFL Baltimore Stars and the CFL Baltimore Stallions.  When the Ravens were established in Baltimore in 1996 we became Ravens Roost #4 and continue as one of the largest Roosts today.

Though only a few of us remain from the original Colts Corral #4 (Barb Peterson, Shorty Miller, Buzzy & Hildie Suter, Jaybird & Betty Golibart, Tommy & Kathy McCabe, and Jimmy Carrigan - hope I didn't miss anyone!), and though none of us have been with the club since the beginning back in 1959, we should all participate proudly in recognizing this special anniversary and help celebrate it throughout the year.

First, we ask that all members make plans to attend our annual bull & oyster roast - the Ravens Roost #4 Beef, Beer, and Bay Bash on Saturday, March 28th, from 7pm - midnight at the FOP Lodge in Catonsville.  Your support of this annual event is greatly appreciated!  Details on the event will be forthcoming.  Tickets should be available at our January 26th meeting.  Reserve your tables now!

Second, we ask that our members make plans to attend the Council of Baltimore Ravens Roosts Convention in Ocean City from Thursday, May 28 - Sunday, May 31.  While there, we're asking that all Roost #4 members participate in the Ravens Roosts Parade on Saturday, May 30th.  Given our 50th anniversary this year, we'll be receiving special recognition of our longevity and really need to have a large contingent of Roost #4 members there showing our team spirit and celebrating the event.  The more the merrier!  In conjunction with the convention, we're designing a t-shirt that celebrates our 50th anniversary that we'll be wearing in the parade.  If you're creative, bring your ideas for the shirt to the January 26th meeting.  The design will be finalized in March and orders taken by our April meeting.  Everyone attending the convention will be expected to purchase the commemorative t-shirts.  Wear them with pride!

And finally, to commemorate our place in history as one of Baltimore's oldest and greatest sports fan clubs, we'll be taking orders for a special Colts Corral #4 / Ravens Roost #4 50th Anniversary polo shirt from our January 26th meeting through our February 23rd meeting.  The shirts will have our 50th anniversary commemorative logo embroidered on the left chest.  Shirts will be available in men's and women's cuts, short sleeve or long sleeve, and a variety of colors. Estimated cost will be in the $25-$30 range.  Please don't miss-out on celebrating our long history and wearing our colors in pride!

Attend our next meeting on and order your anniversary polo shirts - this will be a one-time-only opportunity to place your orders!  If you can't make the February 23rd meeting and wish to place an order for a shirt, contact Mitch with the style, size, color, and quantity you wish to order and you'll get a confirmation that your shirt has been ordered.  Money for the shirts will be due upon delivery - scheduled for our March meeting.

Roost #4 members - let's celebrate this special year!  Please attend the above events and participate in our celebration of 50 fantastic years! Get involved! Have fun!

Think of how special this year has been for our Ravens and all Ravens fans!  Think of how special the year will be if the Ravens get to the Super Bowl!

Happy 50th Ravens Roost #4!

Go Ravens!!!
