Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – June 9, 2013

Ravens: The Ravens have been signing draft picks one by one, and 2012 team members received their Super Bowl Rings last week. Notably absent at the traditional White House visit was Anquan Boldin and Matt Birk. Birk skipped for political reason, being a avid Pro-Life supporter.
Harbaugh is picking on Courtney Upshaw’s eating habits, and Vonte Leach would like to restructure his contract to stick around a little longer. Ravens about $3.6M under salary cap presently.

Orioles:
O’s dropped 2 of 3 to the Rays and fell to 4th place briefly before salvaging the last game of the series. The O’s are still about 3 games back, 2 games behind the yanks for the final wild card spot.

If the Playoffs started today…
Rank American National
1 Boston St. Louis
2 Texas Atlanta
3 Detroit Arizona
WC1 Oakland Cincinnati
WC2 New York Pittsburgh

Alouettes
The new team in Ottawa officially released their team name and logo. They will be called the RedBlacks, leveraging the “R” logo and colors formerly used by the defunct Ottawa Rough Riders, but avoiding the confusion created with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Blast:
Nothing to report.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
The Bayhawks (4-2, 3rd) broke their 2 game losing streak with a win over the Lizards (2-4, 6th) on Thursday. Next game is Saturday, at home, against Denver (6-0, 1st).

Charm:
The Charm (1-1) start the season with a road loss to the Jacksonville Breeze (2-1), but celebrated a home opening victory, 20-19, over the Philadelphia Passion (0-1). Next game is at home on July 12, against the Cleveland Crush (0-1).

Capitals (See website for more details):
Pens are out!

Wizards (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Mystics have opened the season 3-1, and will next play on Sunday, June 16 at home against Indiana.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
DC tied NE 0-0 on Saturday, will host Philadelphia (6/12) and Toronto (6/15) this week.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
