News and Personal Thoughts:
Congratulations to the Loyola Greyhounds Lacrosse team -- Smallest school to win the NCAA Division 1 Men's Lacrosse championship!
Ravens: Mandatory mini camp is in session with various shows and no-shows. No need to speculate on any of those. Things will fall into place in July... In an effort to bandage the OL, the Ravens signed veteran offensive linemen like guard Bobbie Williams (Bengals) and center Tony Wragge (Rams)... Derrick Mason signs a 1-day contract to retire as a Raven.
Orioles: In an unusual turn of events, the Orioles are still floating near the top of the standings, and it is June now! Showalter has found enough spare fingers to plug up most of the holes in the wall as we move in to the final stretch of the first half. Still a lot of baseball left to go, but we are still looking respectable! Go O's!
Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC): Team to resume play in 2012 after completing construction of a downtown soccer facility. No status update lately, and it appears that the team may have folded.
Alouettes Preseason starts this week.
Blast: Nothing to report.
Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium) The Hawks are now 5-1 and in first place. Next game is at Home on Saturday against the Hamilton Nationals.
Charm: Nothing to report.
Capitals (See website for more details): Nothing to report.
Wizards (See website for more details): Nothing to report.
Mystics (See website for more details): Mystics started the season like they ended last season -- pathetic. 1-5 so far, and next game is against Indiana on Friday before a 3 game West coast road trip.
D.C.United (See website for more details): At 8-4-3, DC United finds themselves atop the Eastern Conference, tied for 2nd best point total in the League. Next game is Saturday, at Philadelphia.
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won't know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
