News and Personal Thoughts:
Bumper Sticker seen on Rt 29 this week: “Go Back to Pennsylvania” conveniently in steeler black and gold.

Ravens:
SportsNation survey on which AFC North hold out will most likely be signed before the start of training camp has Mike Wallace in the lead, and Ray Rice 2nd. Joe Flacco comes in with a low percentage at 4th place… Forbes ranking of the richest athletes has Haloti Ngata at #12… The biggest question is how the Ravens will respond to the likelihood that Terrell Suggs will be gone for most (if not all) of the season. Most analyst indicate that this will cause the Ravens to fall short of last years success, making that dropped pass look more and more painful with each replay (real or visualized).

Orioles:
As the O’s continue to apply duct tape, scotch tape, rubber cement, and bubble gum to the roster, they continue win games, led by Jason Hammel (whom I thought was a bust before he got in the door), and Wei-yen Chen, who could be a good candidate for Rookie of the year. Although the bullpen has had a few bumps, the fact that we have last this long in contention is a good indicator that we could make a serious run at ending the streak of consecutive losing season, and more. First things first, one game at a time. Just win, baby!

Crystal Palace Baltimore F.C. (Home games at UMBC):
Team to resume play in 2012 after completing construction of a downtown soccer facility. No status update lately, and it appears that the team may have folded.

Alouettes
The Als complete the preseason 0-2, losing to both Winnipeg and Toronto. They open at Calgary on Sunday, July 1.

Blast:
Nothing to report.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
The Hawks are now 6-1 and still in first place after a 16-15 win over the Hamilton Nationals last weekend. Next game is at Home on Saturday against the Boston Cannons, who are 5-2, and 1 game back in the standings.

Charm:
Nothing to report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Draft is June 28th

Mystics (See website for more details):
Mystics started the season like they ended last season — pathetic. 1-5 so far, and next game is against Indiana on Friday before a 3 game West coast road trip.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
United beat Philadelphia last Saturday 1-0, to improve to 9-4-3, still 2 points ahead of Kansas City for the conference lead and 2 points behind Real Salt Lake for best point total. Next game is Sunday, at New York (3rd place in Eastern Conference, 8-4-2)

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, nevermind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

  1. Don’t believe the hype. We’re not a one man team. We did six games without Reed, we can do a few without Suggs.
