On Monday, Joe Flacco will sign a long term deal with the Ravens that will make him the highest paid quarterback in the NFL, but if the deal doesn’t include Bryant McKinnie, we won’t get our money’s worth. It was the addition of McKinnie to the O-line at the start of the playoffs that finally gave Joe the time to throw and be the elite quarterback, albeit for 4 games, that he claims he is. Traditionally, the year after a huge contract signing (6 years, $120.6M) is a huge let down. Retiring Ray Lewis and Matt Birk freed up $6M in cap space, but more must be freed to keep us a contender. If Flacco was under a microscope before (Remember, I keep calling him “Average Joe Flacco”), the next several seasons will amplify the magnification on him, as he now tasked with proving he is worth of every dollar now being paid to him.
Orioles:
Orioles have been cruising through spring training so far. Pitching, 1 to 2 innings at a time per pitcher, has done well, and the offense has produced enough to win games. Spring training, is spring training, and as they say in financial terms, past performance is no indication of future success. Headlines worth note is that Roberts back is back, ass is Reimold’s injury wagon. Opening odds are 40:1 for the Orioles to win the World Series.
Alouettes
TSN had an interesting article on Dan Hawkins, their new head coach.
Blast:
The Blast (21-5) have a 1 game lead over the Milwaukee Wave (19-5) after beating them last weekend to conclude the Blast’s regular season. Milwaukee plays tonight and Sunday to finish out their regular season. The Blast need the Wave to lose either game to clinch the regular season title, and a home game against Chicago next Saturday. If the Wave win both remaining games, the Blast will host Missouri next Saturday. MISL Championship game is on March 16.
Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
