Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – September 15, 2015

News and Personal Thoughts:
The GoogleDoc ticket sharing status: Great seats for sale to Jax, StL, KC, Sea and Pit; Tickets Wanted to the SD, KC, and Miami (away) games. Check it out at Ravens Roost 4 Ticket Exchange.

Ravens:
Suggs gone for the season is a blow, but I believe we will perserve through that. The Defense showed a lot of character against Denver and Peyton Manning, but the offense was down right offensive. Mike Preston says we have no playmakers, and he is right. We need another “go to” receiver, or this team is doomed for ineptitude… Rumors are that the Ravens will sign an outstanding free agent veteran LB.

Orioles:
Although mathematically still in it, making statements by winning 2 of 3 against NYY and KC is pointless. They need to “run the table” and say their prayers each night. What we need right now, is a Miracle!

Alouettes
The Al’s (4-6) were off this week, but fell to 3.5 games back.

Blast (MASL):
Nothing to report.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing to report.

Charm:
The Charm have suspended operations for the 2015 season, with plans to return in 2016 in a move to the Washington D.C./Northern Virginia market. BOO!!!

Capitals (See website for more details):
The National Hockey League (NHL®) and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced today the schedule for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. From Sept. 17 to Oct. 1, 2016, eight teams – Team Canada, Team Czech Republic, Team Finland, Team Russia, Team Sweden, Team USA, Team Europe and Team North America – will compete in a best-on-best international hockey championship.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Mystics locked up a 4 seed and will start off against #1 New York on Friday.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
DC (13-10-6, 45 points) scored a tie this week, and dropped into a virtual tie with New York, although the Red Bulls have played 3 few games. Columbus and New England are hot on their heals, although the Revolution is being investigated for improper ball inflation (Just kidding).

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Week 1
    • Pats over pittsburgh (+6.5). If anyone doesn’t think that Tom Brady won’t get Medieval on everyone this year to protest his deflated balls, you are sorely mistaken. Much closer game, but NE still covered.
    • Packers over Bears (+6.5). Despite injuries, Pack should cover against a rebuilding Bears team. Pack had to make a comeback, but pulled it out.
    • Houston over KC (+1.5). Teams are well matched, so I went with the home team. KC wins one on the Road
    • Browns (+2.5) over Jets. It’s still the Jets. Browns will enjoy their only taste of first place all year. The Browns are Back
    • Indy over Buff (+2.5). Buffalo is looking much better, but Colts have the edge with Luck. Tyrod Taylor wins his first start!
    • Fins over Was (+3.5). Skins glory stays with their preseason win over the Ravens. Skins jump out by 10, then give up 17. Some things never change.
    • Car over Jax (+3.5), but take the points. 2 teams going no where. Carolina is better, but not by much. Jacksonville still stinks.
    • Seattle over Rams (+3.5). Rams will need more than a FG spread to tempt me. Rams take it in OT.
    • Cards over Saints (+2.5). Desert Air. Enough said.
    • Chargers over Detroit (+2.5). Strange things happen to visiting teams in San Diego. SD misses extra point, but hangs on to win.
    • Titans (+3.5) over Tampa. 2 struggling teams look to get an edge on the new season. Tennessee for real, or Tampa a major dud?
    • Bengals over Raiders (+3.5), but take the points. Black hole. Raider swallowed by their own black hole.
    • Broncos over Ravens (+4.5). Waiting for our Defense to prove me wrong. Begging, actually. Defense rose… Offense fell.
    • Dallas over Giants (+5.5), but take the points. For some strange reason, Road teams in NFC East matchups do very well. Dallas rallies, wins by 1.
    • Falcons (+2.5) over Eagles. Upset of the week. Falcons won by 2.
    • SF over Vikings (+2.5). San Fran is in turmoil, but have the late night home field advantage this week. Vikings were ugly.
    • This Week: 12-4 SU (Straight Up), 11-5 ATS (Against the Spread)
  • NFL, Week 2
    • KC over Denver (+2.5). Not sure if our Defense was good, or if Manning has gotten bad.
    • Houston (+3.5) over Jax. Anyone can look impressive against Jacksonville.
    • Saints over Tampa (+9.5). Tampa will continue to struggle with Rookie QB.
    • Pit over SF (+5.5), but take the points. steelers hung in there against NE, but SF isn’t that bad, are they?
    • Detroit (+3.5) over MN. After Monday’s performance, I’ll go with Detroit.
    • Buffalo (+2.5) over New England. I just want to see Brady cry.
    • Cards over Bears (+2.5). Beating Saints at home not a fluke.
    • Titans over Cleveland (+0.5) . Browns could be heading South… fast.
    • Bengals over Chargers (+3.5). Bengals trying to stake claim to division again.
    • Rams over Skins (+3.5). Really? Only 3.5 points? Have the odds makers watched them play?
    • Giants over Atlanta (+2.5). Eli to rebound with a win.
    • Baltimore over Oakland (+6.5). Ravens to rebound heartily.
    • Fins over Jags (+6.5). Miami is poised to make some noise this year.
    • Dallas (+5.5) over Philly. Going with the NFC East Road team again.
    • Packers over Seattle (+3.5), but take the points. I call for OT in this game.
    • Colts over Jets (+6.5). Luck will be back this week.
