Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – September 29, 2015

News and Personal Thoughts:
The GoogleDoc ticket sharing status: Seats still available for Jax, StL, KC, Sea and Pit; Tickets wanted for SD, KC and @Mia. Check it out at Ravens Roost 4 Ticket Exchange.

Ravens:
The Ravens are no longer a team of defense. Best bet to win ANY games this year is to out-gun their opponents, and if Steve Smith goes down, we will be shooting blanks. Sorry to be sounding some negative, but it’s hard to be positive when we are off to our first 0-3 start EVER, as we continue a hellish start of the season schedule with our third road game of the season, on a short week, to pittsburgh, and having lost all 3 games in the final minutes. Only 3 teams have started 0-3 and made the playoffs, as the illustrious announcers kept telling me on the TV broadcast, and none of them have made it to the Super Bowl. Now, ask yourself, after watching the first 3 games, would we deserve a trip to the playoffs?

Orioles:
The Fat Lady has sung.

Alouettes
Montreal (5-7) lost to Saskatchewan 33-21, and fallen 3 gmes behind Hamilton, and sit alone in last place.

Blast (MASL):
The Baltimore Blast have announced that the February 11th game against the Syracuse Silver Knights has been moved to Saturday, January 2nd. Kickoff will be at 7:35 p.m. at the Royal Farms Arena.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
23 man protected list has been announced.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps are 3-0-1 in the first 4 preseason games. 3 games remain before they start playing for real.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Preseason starts October 6, and the regular season starts October 28.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to Report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
The United’s (13-12-6, 45 points) continued with another loss this week, still in 4th place, 3 points behind New York.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Week 3
    • Giants over Skins (+3.5), but take the points. Exception to my rule when the Skins are playing. Points couldn’t even help the skins.
    • steelers over Rams (+1.5). Now sure how things could go for the Rams here. St. Louis was on fire (due to bad pyrotechnics), but steelers still win, even with Ben going down.
    • Chargers (+2.5) over Minnesota. Which teams will show up? Minnesota has rebounded well after a opening flop sto start the season.
    • Tampa (+6.5) over Houston. Houston should be better, and Tampa worse, but is that the case? Houston finally figures out how to win.
    • Jets over Philly (+2.5). Eagles have shown me nothing so far. Philadelphia finally gets in the win column
    • Panthers over Saints (+3.5). Carolina 2-0 and could be a force in the South. Carolina gets leads, and holds on for the win.
    • Pats over Jags (+13.5). Never mind last week, Brady will run up the score. 51 points should qualify as running up the score.
    • Bengals (+2.5) over Ravens. Do you really think we can win when the Bengals had their way with Oakland, and we flopped? Almost… there… Nope.
    • Browns over Oakland (+3.5), but take the points. I want to believe Oakland is good this year. I also want a million dollars. Raiders are looking to have a team this year.
    • Indy over Tennessee (+3.5). Luck will school the young QB. Thanks to a missed 2 point conversion, Colts hold on, despite another un-Luck-y performance.
    • Falcons over Dallas (+1.5). We’ll have to see how a Cleveland QB reject works for Dallas. Dallas got early lead, and then, SPLAT
    • Cards over SF (+6.5). Sf is going no where fast is last week is any gauge. Cards are good… Niners are not.
    • Seattle over Chicago (+14.5), but take the points. Not sure Seahawks will run up the score that much. Bears skunked.
    • Bills (+2.5) over Miami. Fins lost to the jags. Any questions? Bills obviously didn’t have any!
    • Broncos over Lions (+2.5). Denver 2-0 and Lions are 0-2. Manning doesn’t look like the Manning of old, but still posted the W.
    • Packers over KC (+6.5). Points were VERY tempting on this one.
    • This Week: 12-4 SU (Straight Up), 10-6 ATS (Against the Spread)
    • This Season: 29-19 SU, 25-23 ATS
  • NFL, Week 4
    • Pittsburgh (+2.5) over Baltimore. I high school quarterback could shred our Defense (please prove me wrong, please prove me wrong)
    • Jet over Fins (+1.5). Fins are looking as bad as the Ravens these days.
    • Colts over Jags (+8.5), but take the points. Lucky has apparently turned color blind.
    • Falcons over Houston (+6.5). Two teams going in opposite directions.
    • Panthers over Tampa (+3.5). Carolina heading to a division title.
    • Bills over Giants (+6.5), but take the points. Tyrod Taylor, but McCoy won’t play this weekend.
    • Oakland over Bears (+2.5). Raiders might have found a QB.
    • Philly over Skins (+3.5). Skins stink worse.
    • Cincinnati over KC (+3.5). Bengals getting anxious for their 1 and done playoff run.
    • Chargers over Cleveland (+7.5), but take the points. Chargers win at home, but Cleveland to keep it close.
    • GB over SF (+9.5). Definitely not enough points.
    • Denver over MN (+6.5). Vikings could make this interesting.
    • Zona over StL (+6.5). The Desert.
    • Saints over Dallas (+4.5). Dallas hurting more than NO.
    • Seattle over Detroit (+9.5). Seahawks to ride Defense.
