Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – February 13, 2016

Ravens:
SI ranked the top 40 free agents. Only Raven-related players was Kelechi Osemele at number 7, to which they listed the Ravens as being the top landing spot. No other player had Baltimore listed as a possibility.

Orioles:
SI published their pre-season rankings with the Orioles at #23, citing a “Leaky starting rotation and multiple lineup questions… [Facing] a set of tought division rivals with even the low-budget Rays making improvements. Baltimore might be headed back to the cellar in 2016.” That was rather harsh. Granted Chris Davis was an over-priced deal that the Orioles had to make, but I think was have addressed everything they wanted to except a #1 pitcher (none available) and a corner outfielder who they will undoubtedly plug in with some one who can play good defense but fail to hit is own weight… Season ticket invoices finally shipped out with the average ticket price increasing an estimated 20%, higher than my predicted 10% jump. This is only the third price increase over the last 12 years.

Alouettes
Nothing new to report.

Blast (MASL):
The Blast (12-2) Friday night game at Detroit was postponed due to field conditions. No word on make up plans. Sonora of the Pacific division is the only team with a better overall record at 14-2.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing new to report: The Bayhawks open the season on April 23 in Atlanta, before 3 straight home games.

Capitals (See website for more details):
The Caps (40-9-4) have rebounded with 5 straight wins.

Wizards (See website for more details):
The Wizards (23-28) are 10th in the conference.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to Report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Regular season starts March 6, but they have a Away-and-home series with Queretaro F.C. on February 23 and March 1.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Pro Bowl and Super Bowl
    • Pro Bowl. Who cares? I am not making a pick in that fiasco.
    • Carolina over Denver (+5.5). After watching the Championship games, Carolina shows me a more complete team. Once again, top defense wins out.
    • This Week: 0-1 SU (Straight Up), 0-1 ATS (Against the Spread)
    • This Season: 164-103 SU, 137-130 ATS
