Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – November 8, 2016

Ravens:
Who wanted that game less? In a game where both teams scored 25% 3rd down efficiency and 10+ penalties for about 100 yards, the steelers gave that game to us. Not only did they give us a 3 quarter head start, they also gave us 8 MORE points to start the 4th quarter to make sure it was enough, before the worst botched on-side kick in NFL history. Were they paid to throw that game? Unbelievable. In the end, we are in first place, and still can’t get the ball into the end zone. No, I don’t count a club record 95-yard catch and sprint as an offensive TD. That’s called a failure to tackle.

Seriously, what this game was about, was improving Ben’s record in games started after an injury to 2-6 by having the steelers run the ball into the jaws of death for 3 quarters to protect his surgically repaired leg, before throwing in the hat and dissecting our secondary.

Can this tiny bit of momentum get us through the rest of the season? Doubtful. Ineptitude on offense will lead to our eventual demise. We cannot continue to play like this and win. Next up: The Cursed Browns. Can we keep them 0-fer? Remember, this is their Super Bowl each year.

Orioles:
Cubs win. BBWAA S-U-C-K! Zach Britton posted the most domineering relief/closer performance in MLB history, and he gets the shaft. 47 for 47 in save opportunities, MLB record 0.54 ERA (for anyone pitching 50+ innings), and a MLB record 43 straight scoreless appearances while pitching in a hitters park. What does he have to show for it? The Mariano Rivera (*spit*) Relief pitcher of the year, which means nothing. Not even an official award. 5 other relief pitchers have won Cy Young awards for a lot less. I thought he even had a shot at MVP. Not even an finalist in either category. I guess his 2 handicaps killed him again. Relief pitcher, and an Oriole. I’m pissed.

Alouettes
For what it’s worth the Als (7-11) won their final game of the season to tie Hamilton (7-11) in the standings, but still lose out on the tie-breaker. Hamilton will host Edmonton, and BC will host Winnipeg in the division semifinals.

Blast (MISL):
Blast open season with an 11-6 win. Home opener on Friday.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Hawks announce 2017 23-man protected roster.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps (8-2-1) have won 5 in 3rd place, 3 points behind the Rangers.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards (1-5) got their first win, and then regressed.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
#2 Colorado faces #4 Seattle in the Western Coference, while #3 Toronto faces #5 Montreal in the Eastern Conference.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

  • Week 9:
    • Atl over @TB (+3.5), but take the points. Falcons are 0-3 as the favorite. Falcons took it to the house.
