Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – November 22, 2016

News and Personal Thoughts:
From my sponsor: LAST CHANCE! Marriotts Ridge High School High School Citrus sale extended through tonight, 11/22! Order your fresh oranges and grapefruit at www.mrhsfruit.com. Please credit Ichniowski with any orders, and let me know if you need assistance with the pick up, which is scheduled for Saturday, 12/17.

Ravens:
Well, the better disciplined team won, but that wasn’t us. The worst stat of the game was 12 more penalties for 136 yards, but the other glaring problem was our failure to run the ball more, especially after averaging 6.3 yards per carry (101 yards on 16 carries). The Ravens failed to make a statement against the leagues best team, but the Cowboys didn’t “roll” us in their first ever victory over the Ravens, and other may have noticed that we stayed with them for most of the game. Next up is the fading Bengals who are only 1.5 games back in the worst NFL division. Keys to victory should be obvious: Discipline, run the ball, and win the turnover Battle.

Orioles:
The Orioles named Roger McDowell as Major League pitching coach and Alan Mills as bullpen coach Tuesday afternoon, replacing the departed duo of Dave Wallace and Dom Chiti. McDowell, 55, was the Braves’ pitching coach the past 11 seasons. Under McDowell’s watch from 2006-16, the Braves’ staff ranked fourth among Major League clubs with a 3.88 ERA, including a 3.58 bullpen ERA, which ranked second in the Majors.

Alouettes
Both regular season division winners, Ottawa and Calgary, won on Sunday and will face off Sunday in the 104th Grey cup.

Blast (MISL):
Blast defeat Florida 7-1 to improve to 2-1.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Hawks release 2017 schedule. (Nothing new to report)

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps (11-5-2) regained some ground, moving back into 3rd place, 3 points back.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards (4-9) improved to have the 5th worst record in the NBA.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
#2 Colorado faces #4 Seattle in the Western Coference, while #3 Toronto faces #5 Montreal in the Eastern Conference. First leg is next Tuesday, 11/22.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 10:
    • NO (+3.5) over @Car. Battle for Last Place. Saints 5-0 as the underdog. Carolina wins it at the end, but fails to cover.
    • @Dal over Bal (+7.5), but take the points. Dallas is 4-0 as the favorite, while Baltimore is 0-2 as the underdog. However, we have a tendency to keep games close, so that is the way to bet. Bah!
    • TN (+3.5) over @Ind. I like Tennessee’s offense better. Otherwise, flip a coin. Colts jump out early, but hold on for a 7 point win.
    • @Det over Jax (+6.5), but take the points. Detroit is in first place, but Jags can be surprising. Lions 26-19.
    • @KC over TB (+7.5), but take the points. Chefs have failed to cover thrice. Tampa pulls upset.
    • @NYG over Chi (+7.5). Despite Giants failing to cover 3 times so far, the Bears really don’t have much to offer. Giants fail to cover against lowly Bears.
    • AZ (+0.5) over @MN. I watched most of that Viking/skin debacle. Forget the 5-0 start, they are nothing. Vikings ride 2 100-yard returns (Kick off and INT) to 6 point win.
    • Buf (+2.5) over @Cin. Tyrod Taylor is the better QB these days. Bills further sink Bengals.
    • Pit over @Cle (+8.5), but take the points. Browns have covered 4 times so far this season. Watching them play, I am not sure how, but they did! Steelers do enough to win and cover.
    • @LAR (+1.5) over Mia. 2 .500 teams. Going with the Left coaster. Rams shut out Fins for 55 minutes. Game was 60 minutes.
    • NE over @SF (+13.5). SF won’t cover that line 2 weeks in a row. Brady wins in his first ever start against his home town team, fails to cover.
    • @Sea over Phi (+6.5), but take the points. Seattle has failed to cover 3 time so far, but they are home after beating NE. Philadelphia runs out of RBs, uses water boy.
    • @Was over GB (+2.5). I need to stop betting against the skins, and maybe they will start losing again. Skins roll over Packers despite their inability to score anything on PATs.
    • @Oak over Hou (+5.5), but take the points. Both teams bad against the spread, so I am guessing this will be a close game. Raiders win by 7
    • This Week: 9-5 SU, 4-10 ATS
    • This Season: 88-71-2 SU, 74-87 ATS
  • Week 11:
    • @Lions over Vikings (+2.5). Turkey day pick.
    • @Dallas over Washington (+6.5), but take the points. Although Dallas is 5-0 against the spread, skins have been hot lately.
    • squealors over @Indy (+3.5). I want the Colts to win, but we all know about what happens with my wants.
    • @RAVENS over Bengals (+4.5), but take the points. We don’t win games easily.
    • @Houston over Chargers (+0.5). Houston is in first place. Chargers are in last.
    • Titans over @Bears (+2.5). Bears only have 2 wins for a reason.
    • @Bills over Jags (+6.5), but take the points. Jags are better than their record.
    • @Falcons over Cardinals (+4.5). Falcons usually win by more than 4, and Cardinals usually lose by more than 4.
    • @Fins over Niners (+7.5), but take the points. Miami’s record is deceiving. Niners have covered 3 times, and in 2 straight games.
    • @Saints over Rams (+6.5), but take the points. Saints are 1-3 as the favorite.
    • Giants over @Browns (+6.5), but take the points. Giants have failed to cover 4 times, while the Browns have covered 4 times.
    • Seahawks over @Tampa (+5.5), but take the points. Hawks are 3-5 ATS, and failed to cover 3 times so far.
    • @Raiders over Panthers (+3.5). Despite Raiders being 2-3 as the favorite, they have more going for them.
    • @Denver over Chefs (+3.5), but take the points. Denver has slightly better record and margin of victory in common games.
    • Patsies over @Jets (+7.5). Jets are 1-5 as the dog.
    • @Eagles over Packers (+3.5), but take the points. Two evenly matched teams, share a common record among common opponents. Went with the home team.
