Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – September 1, 2014

Ravens:
A perfect preseason, which translates into… nothing really. Now the Ravens have their team set for the Week 1, we’ll see how much changes. There are still depth issues, and a few starting positions which the \Ravens say they may address with trades, as they evaluate the options. I don’t expect much to move for now. Our lineup is our lineup, and now we need to live with it.

Orioles:
The Orioles have pushed back up to an 8+ game lead, and a few last minute trades are looking to deal with position where we are struggling with injuries or lack of productivity. With a strong pitching staff, the Orioles could go deep this year.

Alouettes
The Als beat Ottawa 20-10 on Friday night to move into sole possession of something other than last place… and oddly only half a game out of first. I wonder if there is a clause where no teams from a division will be allowed in the playoffs? Maybe they need to add one.

Mariners
Nothing to report as the 2015 season remains in question will the battle with the Baltimore Arena remains an issue.

Blast:
Blast will host Syracuse November 8 to open the season. Rest of schedule is not on their website… still.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
3. Denver defeats 1. Rochester 12-11 for the title. 2015 season tickets now on sale.

Charm:
Atlanta to face Chicago in Legends Cup.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Wizards (See website for more details):
2014-15 single game tickets went on sale Friday.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Mystics are swept in 2 game series to end the season.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
United (14-8-4) won 3 of last 4, including a win over KC (12-8-6) to take a 4 point lead.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 1:
    • Seattle over Green Bay (+5.5). Seattle has paid off the refs in advance this year for those close end zone calls.
    • BALTIMORE over Cincinnati (+2.5). Go RAVENS
    • Saints over Falcons (+2.5). Saints still have Brees!
    • Rams over Minnesota (+4.5), but take the points. Without Bradford, Rams could be looking at another long season.
    • steelers over Cleveland (+6.5). I almost took Cleveland, but then I realized that I almost took Cleveland!
    • Eagles of Jags (+10.5), but take the points. That many points to start the season was hard to pass up.
    • Jets over Raiders (+4.5). Raider were rated to be the WORST team to play for!
    • Bears over Bills (+6.5), but take the points..
    • Washington (+2.5) over Houston . RG-Knee to fully return from injury.
    • Chiefs over Titans (+4.5).
    • Pats over Miami (+4.5), but take the points. Pats are going to go on a downward spin starting this year. I can feel it.
    • Tampa over Carolina (+0.5). Heads or Tails?
    • San Fran over Dallas (+5.5), but take the points. San Fran has issues, just not as many as Dallas.
    • Denver over Indy (+7.5), but take the points. Denver can score points, but can they stop them?
    • Detroit over Giants (+4.5), but take the points. Detroit to challenge this year.
    • Cards over San Diego (+3.5). San Diego offense is too suspect.
    • 2013: 164-103 Straight Up and 129-138 Against the Spread
