Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – December 9, 2014

Ravens:
After a dreadful first half where I shouted at the TV, even though I swore I’d only do that during squealor games, the Ravens bounced back and played football good enough to post a 2 score win. The Ravens can afford NO MORE halves like the first and expect to make the playoffs, regardless of the competition. If my math is correct, we can make the playoffs with 3 straight wins, which is perfectly do-able. The bigger question is whether or not we deserve it. Think carefully, because we could be headed for an embarrassing end to the season, one way or the other.

Orioles:
Orioles are continuing to not make any progress.

Alouettes
According to a report from CBS Sports, the former Montreal Alouettes star receiver Duron Carter will hold a pro day for NFL teams in Florida in early January. CBS Sports reports 15 NFL teams are interested.

Mariners
Nothing to report as the 2015 season remains in question as the battle with the Baltimore Arena remains an issue.

Blast:
The Blast (4-0) were off this week. Next up is a 2 game home series against nemesis Milwaukee next weekend.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing to Report.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps continued to drift in the standings at 12-10-4 (28 Points), now 11 points behind the evil penguins.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards (14-6) dropped into a division tie with Atlanta, 1.5 games behind Toronto for top Eastern Conference record.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 14:
    • Dallas over Bears (+3.5). Romo to beat team he is supposed to beat. …and he does.
    • Fins over Ravens (+2.5). Ravens really need this one, but my confidence is weak after last weeks debacle. Ravens managed to recover from horrific first half and win.
    • squeals (+3.5) over Bungles. It’s about time for the Bengals to put up or shut up. Pittsburgh solves Bengals in 4th quarter with 25 points.
    • Indy over browns (+3.5). Luck is a class above anything the Browns can put out there. Took all of 60 minutes, but Colts eek one out.
    • Detroit over Tampa (+9.5), but take the points. This game could go either way once you factor in the points. Lions feast.
    • Houston over Jags (+4.5). 2 teams headed in opposite directions. Houston continues push towards playoffs.
    • Minnesota over Jets (+5.5). In Minnesota, Vikings have advantage. Vikes score TD in OT FTW.
    • Saints over Carolina (+9.5). Brees on a mission to prove he ain’t over the hill. Carolina awoke, but will go back to sleep soon.
    • Titans (+.5) over Giants. Titans have shown more lately than the Giants. Giants got medieval on the Titans.
    • Rams over Potatoes (+2.5) Rams actually think they can salvage this season. skins know they can’t. Rams send the 3 first round picks that they got for RG3 to the coin toss.
    • Chefs (+1.5) over Cards. Cards are nothing without Palmer, although this one is in the desert. Cards win, barely.
    • Denver over Buffalo (+10.5). As much as I want Buffalo to win, it ain’t happening here. Buffalo contains Manning, but still loses.
    • SF over Oakland (+7.5), but take the points. Battle of the Bay will bring Niners to the black hole, and likely will get sucked in. Raiders win the battle of the bay.
    • Eagles over Seattle (+1.5). Not impressed with Seattle lately, meanwhile, Eagles are on a roll. Eagles show inconsistency again.
    • Pats over Chargers (+3.5). Brady to bounce back from last weeks loss. Chargers lack spark.
    • Packers over Atlanta (+11.5). Blow out of the week. GB looked to run away early, but Atlanta made a furious comeback.
    • This Week: 10-6 Straight Up and 7-9 Against the Spread
    • Season: 126-81-1 Straight Up and 92-116 Against the Spread
  • Week 15:
    • Rams over Cards (+4.5). Cards are not in Arizona’s favor after losing Palmer.
    • Ravens over Jags (+13.5). Points may be tempting given this ex-rivalry, but Ravens tend to blow out bad teams, and Jags tend to get blown out.
    • Atlanta (+2.5) over squealors. So far this season, stealers lose to bad teams and are 3-5 as the favorite, while Atlanta, also fighting for division lead, is 5-3 as the underdog.
    • Packers over Bills (+5.5). Green Bay could be rolling towards a title.
    • Carolina over Tampa (+5.5). Panthers won previous meeting on the road.
    • Cleveland (+.5) over Cincinnati. Browns won first match-up, and are 6-2 as the underdog, compared to Bengals 3-6 as the favorite.
    • Indy over Houston (+6.5). Although Houston is making a run for the playoffs, injuries are slowing them down.
    • KC over Oakland (+10.5), but take the points. Raiders won first meeting and have covered the spread 4 teams so far this season.
    • Pats over Fins (+7.5), but take the points. Miami won the first meeting, and are 4-1 as the underdog.
    • Giants over Potatoes (+6.5). Yeah, the skins are that bad.
    • Denver over San Diego (+3.5), but take the points. Despite Denver’s 2 TD win in Denver earlier, they have failed to cover the spread 4 times this season.
    • Jets over Titans (+1.5). Titans have been blown out the last 3 games.
    • Lions over Vikings (+7.5). Detroit tends to win the games they are supposed to, and their record versus the spread is also in their favor (7-3)
    • Seattle over SF (+9.5). Hawks won by 16 in SF a few weeks ago, and this game is in Seattle.
    • Philly over Dallas (+3.5). In a game that could determine the division title, expect Romo to choke again.
    • Saints over Bears (+2.5). For no other reason, Saints need this win more.
