News and Personal Thoughts:
None.
Ravens:
In an atypical game, the Ravens ran up the score against the pathetic Jags. They failed to present any form of offense or defense to test our players, making tough decisions even tougher come Monday, since everyone seems to have shined. Cundiff appears to be done and rightfully so. Tucker is a gem, and any team will be lucky to have him. Special teams found it better to boot the ball through the end zone because our coverage teams SUCK. The offense line held long enough for the Ravens to run their version of the hurry up/West Coast offense, and this is actually a good thing. I think Joe works better when he has less time to think about the upcoming play. The defense still showed a lack of pass rush and weak secondary, when the Jags actually were about to throw the ball. If we can do the same to Cincy on opening night, I’ll start believing things are fixed, but the reality of it is that there are still problems.
Orioles:
At press time, the O’s are in a 3-way tie for the 2nd wild card spot, and I just received my playoff package as a season ticket holder. This is a new event for me, and darn near hurt myself when I saw the ticket prices. Who do they think they are? The Ravens?
Alouettes
The Als (5-3) scored with 2:51 to take the lead, and then again with 9 second left to clinch the 31-29 win over Hamilton (3-5). Montreal leads Toronto by ½ a game with Toronto hosting Edmonton (4-3) on Monday night. The Als host BC (5-2) on Friday.
Blast:
Nothing new to report his week.
Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
The 2 seed Bayhawks (10-4) will face Boston (9-5) in Massachusetts on Saturday, for the right to face the Denver(11-3)/Long Island (8-6) winner for the title. The Hawks split the regular season games with Boston, winning at home on June 23, 14-13, before losing on July 28 at Boston, 16-13.
Charm:
Nothing to report.
Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps to host Columbus at Baltimore on Wednesday, September 26 for their 2nd of 7 preseason games.
Wizards (See website for more details):
The Washington Wizards announced their preseason schedule.
Mystics (See website for more details):
Mystics won on Sunday, before losing on Tuesday, but now have a 1½ game lead over Tulsa for the Worst Record. Phoenix also sits between them.
D.C.United (See website for more details):
DC (12-8-4, 5th place/Eastern) Tied Philadelphia on Sunday and beat Chicago on Wednesday. DC is still in 5th place, but are now 4 points ahead of Montreal, clinging on that last playoff spot, but only 1 point behind Houston and Chicago. Next game is Saturday at Montreal (11-13-3, 6th place/Eastern)
What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway
so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
