Iggy’s Baltimore Sports report – May 19, 2013

After having 41 years of Hopkins making the NCAA Lacrosse tournament snapped, another first has occurred: No Maryland based school has advanced to the second round. Time to start watching Women’s Lacrosse, I guess.

Ravens:
In a seemingly abrupt move, Rolando McClain announces his retirement. In reality, this is could only be a stunt. After his most recent arrest, the Ravens pulled him aside and gave him an ultimatum: Shape up. Expect McClain to reappear on the scene once his existing 3 police squabbles are resolved, assuming nothing new crops up. If he can’t keep his nose clean, he really will be retired.

Orioles:
O’s have collapsed in epic proportion. First, Jim Johnson blows a save against San Diego, and then again on Saturday, as they just earned their 5 straight lose today. Starting pitching, in general has failed, and the bullpen hasn’t been much relief when they are really needed. If this trend continues, we could really be in trouble, since this is what got us where we were last year.

If the Playoffs started today…
Rank American National
1 Texas St. Louis
2 New York Arizona
3 Cleveland Atlanta
WC1 Boston Cincinnati
WC2 Detroit San Francisco

Alouettes
Nothing to report.

Blast:
Nothing to report.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
The Bayhawks gave Boston their first win with a 15-14 OT loss on Saturday. The Hawks will host undefeated Hamilton (3-0) on Saturday.

Charm:
The Charm will open the 2013 season at Jacksonville on May 25. First home game is a week later against Philadelphia.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps collapsed… now it is a matter of routing for certain teams to NOT win.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Still not looking for any of this depressing information.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Preseason has started. Season opens May 27 in Tulsa. First home game is Sunday, June 2 against Atlanta.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
DC hosts Sporting KC tonight.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
