Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report for October 22, 2013

Ravens:
We SUCK. Can you find a more descriptive term? We gave up gobs of yardage on the ground to a team that averaged 60 yards a game, we still can’t run the ball, and pass protection still had it’s lapses. Our pass rush bordered on non-existent, and we once again posted only mid-teen on points. It’s a bye week, and Harbs has some asses to kick for 2 weeks. Losing to the steelers is inexcusable with the way their season has been going. We need answers, and we need them now, because if a trip to Cleveland doesn’t right this ship immediately after the bye week, it’s going to be a long 2nd half to this season.

Orioles:
Orioles are searching for a new pitching coach.

Alouettes
The Als (7-9, 3rd) clubbed 2nd place Hamilton (8-8) 36-5 on Sunday. They play again this weekend, but this time in Hamilton. The Als have already clinched a playoff spot, and are now fighting for the chance to start the playoffs at home.

Blast:
2013-14 Schedule has been released. (Nothing new to report)

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Nothing to report.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
The Caps have won 2 of 3, but find themselves more points back (8), then they have accumulated thus far (6).

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards lost to the Knicks in Baltimore last Thursday.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
DC United (3-23-7) lost 1-0 to KC. They will host Houston on Sunday to mercifully end this debacle of a season.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL Week 7:
    • Seattle over Arizona (+6.5), but take the points. Arizona has fared better at home, and Seattle is not as good on the road. Those points weren’t enough
    • Falcons over Tampa (+7.5), but take the points. With 1 win between them, it’s hard to give up 7.5 points. Tampa needed 1 more point to cover.
    • Carolina over Rams (+6.5), but take the points. Carolina has done well at home, but Rams are averaging 36 points a game over last 2 games. Side note, Carolina has 3rd ranked D in NFL, and St. Louis has 29th ranked offense, despite recent surge in points. Panthers doubled them up 30-15.
    • Detroit over Bengals (+2.5). Detroit beat Cleveland, and Cleveland beat Cincy, so… Buzzer beater wins it again for Bengals.
    • Chargers over Jags (+7.5), but take the points. Jags are showing some rebound from horrific start, and Chargers have 28th ranked D. Jags home field didn’t help.
    • Fins over Bills (+8.5), but take the points. Bills are 4-2 as the under dog this season, giving the Bengals a scare just last week. Fins have bad front line. Bills not only cover, but win.
    • Patriots over Jets (+4.5). Jets still lack identity, despite having a better record against the spread than New England. Took OT, but Jets win… What’s up with Pats?
    • Dallas (+2.5) over Philly. Eagles have 3rd best Offense in league compared to Dallas 29th ranked Defense, but Cowboys have more firepower. Not the shootout I expected, but Boys won.
    • Skins over Chicago (+1.5). Skins at home has to mean something, right? Another league sanctioned shootout has Skins on top.
    • Niners over Tennessee (+4.5), but take the points. Tennessee seems to play close games, even with Locker out. Niners crushed.
    • Baltimore (+1.5) over pittsburgh. Ravens will struggle, but find a way to win. They are 3-1 as the dog this season. *&^$%!Q*^&%!*&^
    • Packers over Browns (+10.5). Browns lost to Lions by 14, and Packers beat Lions by 13. Browns are disoriented.
    • Chiefs over Houston (+6.5). Houston is completely lost on Offense right now, despite having #1 Defense in NFL. KC wins by 1, maybe close to that first loss.
    • Denver over Indy (+6.5). Denver doesn’t play close games. Colts hand Denver first loss after Manning crys in the pregame.
    • Giants over Vikings (+3.5). They combine for a 1-10 record, showing the neither team, but with the Vikings 31st ranked Defense, Eli should find enough holes to win and cover. …and he did.
    • Last Week:: 10-5 Straight Up, and 5-10 Against the Spread
    • Season:: 65-42 Straight Up, and 49-58 Against the Spread
  • NFL Week 8:
    • Carolina over Tampa (+6.5). Carolina has been coming on strong after a slow start.
    • Cowboys (+2.5) over Detroit. Detroit has some injuries, and Boys are 3-0 as the Dog.
    • Niners over Jax (+16.5). Niners are 5-1 as the Favorite, and Jacksonville is 1-6 as the Dog.
    • Chiefs over Cleveland (+7.5). Cleveland is having some major injury issues, although I was very tempted by those points and Cleveland’s Defense.
    • Pats over Fins (+6.5) but take the points. Miami is bad, just not great. Pats are on a downward spiral, but can do better with their TE back.
    • Saints over Bills (+12.5), but take the points. Buffalo is 5-2 as the underdog.
    • Eagles over Giants (+6.5), but take the points. Heads or tails, call it in the air!
    • steelers over Raiders (+2.5). Ravens gave them what they didn’t need: Momentum and Confidence, damn it!
    • Bengals over Jets (+6.5), but take the points. Cincy has made a habit of sneaking away with a late score to win.
    • Cardinals over Falcons (+2.5). Going with the Home team in a game of failing teams.
    • Denver over Washington (+12.5), but take the points. Look for another major shootout as Denver looks to avenge that loss to the Colts.
    • Packers over Minnesota (+9.5). After Monday’s debacle, Vikings are in COMPLETE disarray.
    • Hawks over Rams (+10.5). Playing the odds again, Seattle is 5-2 as the favorite and the Rams are 1-4 as the dog.
  • MLB (5-3)
    • Red Sox over Tigers. In regular season, Red Sox took 2 of 3 in Fenway, but lost 3 of 4 at Tiger Stadium, but Red Sox have home field advantage. Expect Sox in 7.Sox in 6
    • Cardinals over Dodgers. St. Louis took 2 of 3 in LA, and 3 of 4 at home in the regular season. Look for Cardinals to make quick work of the Dodgers. Cards in 6
    • Cards over Sox in 6. They say offense wins games, but defense wins championships… well… St. Louis has a better defense (fielding and pitching).
