Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – November 26, 2013

Ravens:
Ravens win on D and do enough on offense to post the Must-Win Win. I am not sure how much of this was the Ravens winning, versus the Jets failing, which they did miserably. Any decent QB behind center for the Jets, and this result would have been very different. Four trips to the red zone ended with 3 FG and an INT. Not good, by any standards. Bottom line: Playoffs start Thursday. A Ravens loss virtually eliminates the Ravens who will be 3 games behind Cincinnati in the loss column for the division lead and a virtual 2 games behind the steelers (due to head to head sweep) with only four games left. There is only 1 wild card spot at stake, and a loss would be a mountain too high to climb.

Orioles:
Orioles continue to play in the free agent market with little to no action. In the meantime, the club has declared that they will tender offers to all arbitration-eligible players. This could be expensive, and the fans will ultimately pay for it. Expect a ticket price increase this year.

Alouettes
Saskatchewan took it to Hamilton in the Grey cup, 45-23.

Blast:
Blast lose home opener, 8-0, to arch-nemesis Milwaukee.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
2014 Schedule released on Friday.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
After winning 3 in a row to briefly take control of the division, the Caps have dropped 3 straight, earning only 1 point in the standings and falling 4 points behind the evil penguins.

Wizards (See website for more details):
The Wizards (5-8), have won 3 of 4 to move ahead of the Magic in the standings.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL Week 12:
    • Saints over Atlanta (+8.5). Saints are 6-2 ATS, and the Falcons are 0-5. Atlanta shows up for home fans, but it still wasn’t enough.
    • Ravens over Jets (+3.5), but take the points. Ravens are tough at home, but can’t put anyone away. Only 1 TD doesn’t bode well for future.
    • squealers (+2.5) over Brownies. Last week, I would have taken the Browns, but after a total collapse against the bungles, I think not. Browns have collapsed.
    • Lions over Bucs (+9.5). Lions at home should put a hurting on the Bucs. Tampa gets 3rd win… in a row?!
    • Vikings (+4.5) over Packers. No Rodgers, no vote of confidence. First tie this year, as both teams score in OT.
    • Houston over Jags (+10.5), but take the points. Too many points for two failing teams. Jags get 2nd win of season, shows how far Houston has fallen.
    • Carolina over Fins (+4.5). Carolina is a contender, Dolphins are a pretender. Late score wins game, but doesn’t cover for Carolina.
    • KC over San Diego (+5.5), but take the points. Chargers are 5-1 as the Dog this season. San Diego scores with 24 seconds left to hand KC 2nd straight defeat.
    • Bears (+1.5) over Rams. I know that this is St. Louis, but the Bears are doing better in general. I won’t go against Rams at home again!
    • Colts (+2.5) over Cards. Both teams are 3-0 ATS. You pick. Note to self, always pick Cards at home, and against the Colts on the road.
    • Tennessee (+1.5) over Raiders. I researched, and researched, and then flipped a coin. TD with 10 seconds left lifts Tennessee.
    • Dallas (+2.5) over Giants. Giants beat the Packers, but anyone could when they are missing Rodgers. Dallas played stupid, but smart enough to win.
    • Denver over NE (+2.5). NE is over-rated. Denver will prove it. …and they did the first half, but totally disproved it the second half.
    • SF over skins (+5.5). SF is 6-2 ATS, and Washington is 1-4. Skins are in complete turmoil now.
    • Last Week:: 7-7 Straight Up, and 7-7 Against the Spread
    • Season:: 108-68 Straight Up, and 80-96 Against the Spread
  • NFL Week 13:
    • Lions over Packers (+6.5). Still staying away from Green Bay without Rodgers.
    • Dallas over Oakland (+9.5), but take the points. Raiders have covered twice this season already, and that many points is begging for it to happen again.
    • Baltimore over Pittsburgh (+3.5), but take the points. Almost every game is within a score.
    • Carolina over Tampa (+8.5), but take the points. Carolina has been shaky lately and Tampa is on a 3 game win streak.
    • Cleveland over Jacksonville (+6.5), but take the points. Campbell left last game with concussion, and staring QB is up in the air right now.
    • Indianapolis over Tennessee (+4.5). Colts won by 3 points 2 weeks ago in Tennessee; should do better at home.
    • Pats over Houston (+7.5). Houston is now tied for worse record in NFL.
    • Chicago (+0.5) over Minnesota. Vikings are one dimensional.
    • Miami (+1.5) over Jets. After having played both teams, I think the Fins are the better team.
    • Philadelphia over Arizona (+3.5), but take the points. Eagles struggle at home.
    • Buffalo over Atlanta (+3.5). Falcons are going no where faster.
    • Niners over Rams (+8.5). Niners won 35-11 in Saint Louis earlier this season.
    • Denver over KC (+3.5). Broncos will look to regain positioning after debacle in New England.
    • San Diego over Cincinnati (+1.5). West Coast twi-light zone.
    • Giants over Washington (+1.5). Road team seems to have edge in NFC East.
    • Seattle over Saints (+5.5). Although Seattle has failed to cover 3 times this season, but usually do really well at home.
