Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – October 14, 2014

Ravens:
A little bit of skill and a lot of luck turned this into the route of the season for the Ravens as Flacco racked up an NFL record 5 TD passes in 16 minutes, 4 minutes faster than the previous record holder. Is it a good time to point out that Tampa has the worst rated defense in the NFL? In another trap game this week, Atlanta has the 31st ranked defense. Hopefully not over confident, the Ravens could run up some big numbers if they follow the same blue print from last Sunday.

Orioles:
O’s are on the brink of a collapse. Without a loss tonight, the only thing left will be the signature by the coroner as they try to battle out of a 2-0 hole on the road. A win will breath hope into a team being outplayed by dinks and dunks.

Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes (6-8) ran up a 40-9 win over Saskatchewan (9-6) on Monday, and will now travel to Toronto (6-8) on Saturday, looking to break a 3 way tie for first (Hamilton). A side note is that Saskatchewan has already clinched a playoff spot.

Mariners
Nothing to report as the 2015 season remains in question as the battle with the Baltimore Arena remains an issue.

Blast:
Training Camp open October 20.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
2015 Season tickets now on sale..

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps have opened the season 1-0-1, but are losing to the Sharks at press time.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards opened preseason with a 3-1 recrod. Regular season starts October 29.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
United (16-9-7) are now 6 pionts ahead of New England (15-13-4)

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 6:
    • Indy over Houston (+2.5). Colts have 2nd best Offense, going against 5th worst Defense. What started as a route, turned into a game
    • Baltimore over Tampa (+3.5), but take the points. Really think we will win by more than a FG on the road? Didn’t realize how bad TB’s D was.
    • Tennessee over Jax (+6.5). Jags have yet to cover the spread this season. Jax scores late to cover.
    • Denver over Jets (+7.5). I don’t care if they are home, they were still skunked last week by SD, and Denver is a better team! Denver wins by 14.
    • Lions over Vikings (+2.5). Lions are 3-1 as the Favorite, and the Vikings showed what they were made of last week. Minnesota is in shambles
    • Buffalo (+2.5) over Patsies. Buffalo is 3-1 as the underdog, while New England is 1-3. Buffalo couldn’t quite stay in this one.
    • Bengals over Panthers (+7.5), but take the points. Panthers are tougher than what we beat, and could keep it close. A Tie.
    • steelers (+1.5) over Browns. Brainlessburger has never lost to Cleveland in Cleveland. Here’s to hoping, but not how I am picking. Steelers are done. They lost to the Browns.
    • Fins (+3.5) over Green Bay. Had this been in Green Bay, I’d have gone the other way. Miami covers, but doesn’t win.
    • Chargers over Oakland (+7.5). Yeah. Oakland is that bad this year. Oakland stays close enough to cover.
    • Falcons over Bears (+3.5), but take the points. Will come down to a last second field goal. Falcons brought down by bears.
    • Seattle over Dallas (+8.5), but take the points. A lot of points to give up to a Seattle team that is not as dominant as it was last year. Dallas shocks Super Bowl Champs.
    • Cards over Skins (+3.5). Skins dry out in the Desert. Skins were poised to cover, until a later pick-6
    • Giants (+2.5) over Philly. Not impressed with Philly lately, and the Giants have found their groove. Giants lay an egg.
    • Niners over Rams (+3.5) but take the points. SF has had a lot of problems with Saint Louis in recent years. Niners go down early, but come back strong.
    • This Week: 8-6-1 Straight Up and 8-7 Against the Spread
    • Season: 50-40-1 Straight Up and 44-47 Against the Spread
  • Week 7:
    • Pats over Jets (+9.5). Jets have 3rd worst Offense in NFL.
    • Ravens over Falcons (+6.5). Atlanta has 2nd worst defense in NFL.
    • Skins over Tennessee (+5.5), but take the points. A match-up of 2 teams going no where.
    • Seattle over Rams (+6.5). Rams won’t have far to go home.
    • Browns over Jags (+4.5). Jags are 1-5 as the dog.
    • Indy over Cincy (+3.5). Colts have top Offense in NFL, and are 4-1 as the favorite.
    • Bills over Vikings (+4.5). Viking might be worse than Jags right now.
    • Fins (+3.5) over Bears. Bears won last week, but that was against Atlanta.
    • Lions over Saints (+3.5). Saint lack D.
    • Green Bay over Carolina (+7.5), but take the points. Carolina is better than the were when they lost to the Ravens.
    • Chargers over KC (+4.5), but take the points. Chiefs are 4-0 as the underdog.
    • Cardinals over Oakland (+3.5). Black hole or not, Cardinals will cover.
    • Cowboys over Giants (+6.5), but take the points. NFC East on the road tends to do better against division rivals.
    • Denver over SF (+6.5), but take the points. Denver has failed to cover twice so far this year.
    • steelers over Houston (+3.5), but take the points. This game could go either way.
  • MLB: (3-3)
    • ALCS: Os over KC in 6. KC has speed, but Power will win out. Not looking Good…
    • NLCS: SF over Saint Louis in 6. SF seems to bring out their best in even year playoffs. Giants up 2-1
