Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report for November 4, 2014

Ravens:
Add Penalties and Turnovers to a large bowl. Stir. What do you get? DISASTER! Stupidity and incompetence ruled as the Ravens (5-4) dropped to last place in the division. The death omen was when a 2 point conversion was made on a botched extra point attempt. The Football Gods are NOT with you when that happens. With only 1 divisional game left, every game is a must win to recover the 0-2 record against Cincinnati, and the split with the squealers.

Orioles:
A qualifying offer went out to Nelson Cruz, which he is expected to decline, and the Orioles have declined the option for Nick Markakis, as expected. While they will try to resign Nick before he really hits the free agent market, expect a lot of change in the Orioles roster for next year, with steeper challenges to repeat this years success… Hardy, Jones and Markakis all won Gold Gloves.

Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes (9-8) scored 10 fourth quarter point to beat Toronto, 17-14, and clinch a playoff spot with one week left in the regular season. The Als play 2nd place Hamilton (8-9) this week who could win the division with a win, miss the playoffs with a loss, or sneak in the back door if Toronto (7-10) loses to Ottawa (2-15).

Mariners
Nothing to report as the 2015 season remains in question as the battle with the Baltimore Arena remains an issue.

Blast:
First game is November 8 against Syracuse, as the Blast start the season with 3 straight home games.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Offensive skills clinic to be held in Gambrills on November 29, from 11:30 to 1:30.

Charm:
Nothing to Report.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Caps (4-5-2, 10 Points) have fallen 5 points behind the evil penguins.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Wizards (2-1) have bounced back with back to back wins after dropping the opener.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
After clinching top seed in the Eastern Conference, DC has fallen behind 2-0 in a 2 leg aggregate series. They will need to win by 3 goals, or win by 2 goals and then win a mini-game to advance in the MLS playoffs.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • Week 9:
    • Carolina (+2.5) over Saints. Saints can’t handle being favored. Or maybe they can
    • Browns over Bucs (+6.5) Tampa really is that bad. Browns win, but don’t cover.
    • Arizona (+4.5) over Boys. Doesn’t anyone believe that Cards are real this year? Romo could be out a while.
    • Philly over Houston (+2.5). Eagles need a rebound after the Desert. So could Nick Foles. Hot dog Mark Sanchez to take over?
    • KC over Jets (+9.5), but take the points. Jets have covered twice so far this year as the underdog. Those points are enough for me to pick the Jets. KC wins and covers.
    • Bengals over Jags (+11.5). Jags needs more than that to win. Jags cover.
    • Chargers (+1.5) over Fins. SD is 3-1 as the Underdog. Chargers get skunked coming East.
    • Potatoes (+2.5) over Vikings. Washington ain’t bad enough to lose to MN. Apparently they are!
    • Niners over Rams (+9.5), but take the points. Rams always play SF tough, and Niners are 2-4 as the Favorite this year. Last second chance to tie or win, turns into a Kap Fumble.
    • Denver over Pats (+3.5). Shoot out of the week. Brady handles Manning… again.
    • Seattle over Raiders (+15.5). Seattle isn’t the dominant team they were last year. Seattle wins, but fails to cover again.
    • squealors over Ravens (+.5). Oh, look… Prime time game in putzburg. Where is my shocked face? Flippin’ squealors!
    • Colts over Giants (+3.5) Should I predict a 23-17 OT final? Not even close to the score, but the outcome was right.
    • This Week: 8-5 Straight Up and 6-7 Against the Spread
    • Season: 80-53-1 Straight Up and 60-74 Against the Spread
  • Week 10:
    • Bengals over Browns (+6.5) but take the points. Browns are 3-1 as the underdogs.
    • Baltimore over Tennessee (+9.5). Ravens need this to get back into it, and are 5-1 as the favorite.
    • Dallas over London Jags (+6.5), but take the points. Jags have covered 3 of last 4 games.
    • Bills (+1.5) over Chiefs. This one is in Buffalo.
    • Fins (+2.5) over Detroit. Miami is 3-0 as the dog this season.
    • Niners (+4.5) over Saints. This match-up is has too many elements.
    • *them* over the Jets (+4.5). 12 TD’s in 2 weeks, and they only favor *them* by 4+ points?
    • Tampa (+1.5) over Atlanta. Tampa is poised for another win, and this could be the right game for it.
    • Denver over Raiders (+11.5), but take the points. Black hole game for Denver.
    • Zona over Rams (+7.5). Cards have won 3 straight as the favorite, while Rams alternate wins and losses ATS. This is the loss week.
    • Seattle over Giants (+9.5), but take the points. Hawks ain’t putting people away as they have a 3-5 record ATS as the favorite and lost 4 straight after factoring in the odds.
    • Packers over Bears (+7.5). In Green Bay on Sunday night will carry the momentum.
    • Eagles over Carolina (+6.5), but take the points. Originally, I took Eagles straight up, but after reflecting on Sanchez as the starter, I had to at least go with the points.
  • MLB: (5-4)
    • World Series: SF over KC in 7. 2 hot teams that can win on the road. Flip a coin. The Odds makers did! SF wins 3rd title in 5 years!
