Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – July 16, 2013

Ravens:
Ravens are declared the 19th most valuable sports franchise in the world, dropping from 18th last year. 30 of 32 NFL teams ranked in the top 50, with only the Rams and Jags being left off the list… Season tickets have been mailed out, so if you haven’t gotten yours, you should be concerned… Lardarius Webb ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and is targeting the first game of the regular season for his return.

Orioles:
Orioles recovered from a swoon to take 4 of 5 entering the all-star break. The O’s lead the MLB in HRs hit, and HR’s allowed. The acquisition of Scott Feldman looks to batten down the starting rotation for the final two months of the season, but more consistency is needed all around. The homer happy Orioles also need to learn to stop swinging for the fences with every at bat and focus on getting hits a little bit more.

If the Playoffs started today…

Alouettes
After opening the season with a win, the Als have dropped 2 straight to fall into last place, with the rest of the division (all 1-2)… or does that mean they are tied for first? Complicated questions, but in general, you need to win more than you lose. The Als travel to Calgary on Saturday.

Blast:
The Blast Cheer squad are holding prep classes for their upcoming tryings on Sunday, July 28. Serious applicants only.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
The Bayhawks (6-4, 3rd, 4 GB) defeated the machine, but are still trailing undefeated Denver. They host Boston (5-5) on Thursday.

Charm:
The Charm’s (2-1) defeated the Cleveland Crush (1-2), 24-18, and will travel to play Omaha (1-2) on August 3. Baltimore is tied with Atlanta for the division lead.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Nothing to report.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Mystics have won 3 of 4 to even their record at 7-7, good enough for a 3rd place standing. They host San Antonio tonight.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
DC tied Chivas de Guadalajara in a Friendly match last Friday. Next league game is Saturday at Chicago. DC is by far, the worst team in the league.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!
