Iggy’s Baltimore Sports Report – October 13, 2015

News and Personal Thoughts:
The GoogleDoc ticket sharing status: Seats still available for Sea and Pit; Tickets wanted for @Mia. Check it out at Ravens Roost 4 Ticket Exchange.

Ravens:
Our porous secondary costs us again. For the 5th straight game, a fourth quarter lead dissolves into nothingness. As the injuries continue to mount up, this will be a long season if immediate answers cannot be produced for our inability to make plays on defense, and to find players who can stay healthy longer than 3 snaps. At 4 losses in week 5, we are already at the brink for this season. SF on Sunday is another chance to figure out how to win again as we hit the road for our 4th road game in first 6 weeks. At this rate, the Ravens will need to buy playoff tickets if they want to go.

Orioles:
Nothing but a sour taste sits in my mouth after our failed opportunity last year, and now we are looking at a complete collapse if we can’t sign Davis. I know there are others to be concerned with, but truth be told, without Davis, we have no punch in the lineup. His offensive production is irreplaceable.

Alouettes
Montreal (5-9) lost to Toronto 25-17, and are now 4 games back. Playoffs? Playoffs??? Not this year.

Blast (MASL):
Nothing new to report.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: (Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium)
Bayhawks announced their protected list in advance of the upcoming expansion draft for the Atlanta Blaze.

Capitals (See website for more details):
Capitals started the season Saturday with a 5-3 win against New Jersey.

Wizards (See website for more details):
Preseason underway, with and the regular season starting October 28. Wizards are 2-1 so far in the preseason.

Mystics (See website for more details):
Nothing to Report.

D.C.United (See website for more details):
United (14-12-6, 48 points) have fallen 6 points behind New York with the regular season winding down.

What do you want to see in the Ravens report? What should be scrapped? Actually, never mind. No one is reading this anyway so you probably won’t know the difference. Send an email to iggy at tealdragon.net. Thanks!

Iggy’s Predictions

“Past performance does not guarantee future success, but it sure is the way to bet!”

  • NFL, Week 5
    • Indy (+0.5) over Houston. A lot will depend on Luck. Indy wins without Luck.
    • Jags (+3.5) over Tampa. Jags have some Mojo this year. Tampa holds off Jags at home.
    • Buffalo over Tennessee (+2.5). I expect a close game with 2 teams fighting for respect. Buffalo comes from behind, but fails to cover.
    • Ravens over Cleveland (+6.5), but take the points. One win doesn’t make us good. We could have blown them out, but opted to let them win instead.
    • Falcons over Washington (+7.5). Didn’t anyone see what Atlanta did to Houston last week? Repeat week. Falcons battle back to take it to OT, and then pick 6 the win.
    • Chefs over Da Bear (+9.5). Contender and pretender. Bears fought frantically to come from behind.
    • Saints (+4.5) over Philly. Gee, Philly 0-3 as favorite, and Saints 0-2 as the under dog. Philly got medieval on the saints.
    • Packers over Rams (+9.5). Packers 4-0 so far as the favorite. Packers win 24-10.
    • Bengals over Seattle (+2.5). Not seeing the Seattle of recent years yet. Bengals blow lead, but win in OT.
    • Arizona over Detroit (+2.5). Ngata can’t save the Lions this year. Arizona runs up the score. Foreshadowing of our plight in 2 weeks.
    • NE over Dallas (+8.5). Only 8.5? Dallas is toast, maybe worse than us!
    • Denver over Oakland (+5.5), but take the points. Denver is not running up the score, and the Raiders are looking decent. Oakland was half point short of covering.
    • Giants over SF (+7.5). This is NOT the NFC Championship game of recent years. SF did enough to keep this interesting.
    • Steelers (+3.5) over SD. Steelers are still a concern to me. Last second TD pulls them out
    • This Week: 10-4 SU (Straight Up), 7-7 ATS (Against the Spread)
    • This Season: 49-28 SU, 41-36 ATS
  • NFL, Week 6
    • Falcons over Ain’t’s (+3.5). Falcons stumbled last week against Washington, but not this week.
    • Denver over Cleveland (+4.5), but take the points. Denver can’t close it out.
    • Bengals over Bills (+3.5). Bills have injury bug.
    • Vikings over KC (+3.5). Going with the Home team!
    • Texans over Jags (+1.5). Houston is starting to rise…kind a.
    • Bears (+2.5) over Lions. Lions are pathetic, and bears have won 2 in a row ATS.
    • Skins (+5.5) over Jets. Upset of the week.
    • pit (+3.5), over AZ. O’ for this one to be in Zona.
    • Titans over Fins (+2.5). When this game ends, both teams will be relieved.
    • Carolina (+4.5) over Seattle. People are still remembering the super bowl Seahawks.
    • Packers over Charger (+9.5). Packers on fast path to Super Bowl.
    • Niners (+2.5) over Ravens. Why should I have hope?
    • Pats over Colts (+8.5). Will Luck be 100% or even playing?
    • Giants (+3.5) over Eagles. NFC Road test is the way to bet.
